I certainly remember seeing Corbyn on Channel 4's The Last Leg 2/3 weeks before the referendum and it did come across like he really wanted to talk about anything else as he wasn't that fussed about the Brexit campaign. But then that was consistent - throughout that shitshow, the Remain campaign didn't do enough to convince people it should win, and often acted like it was a foregone conclusion it would win when, as we obviously now know, it wasn't.

he said 7/10. That was pretty much where I was. Eu is hardly great, but I think probably better to stay in for now.  At that time though you had to be full throated full on for EU membership or against, there was no middle ground acceptable, because of the nature of the referendum. He was not really the man to front the remain campaign, and that was maybe the problem..who was? Cameron? Osborne? The remain side just lacked passion, because there weren't really that many passionate pro EU figures out there like there were on the other side...until after the referendum of course and then there were shitloads, but it was too late by then.

Tbf we could really re-litigate the referendum and what lead to it for years on end yet. But yes - in retrospect, it felt like there was a better enthusiasm for EU membership after the vote, which was too late. I don't even think it was about lacking passion, just sticking to a one-note "Do it for the economy" platform that didn't connect with voters in a way it would've done, say, 10-20 years earlier.

Certainly, it was not a great crop of pro-EU spokespeople - as well as Corbyn seemingly not being that interested, Remain also got saddled with David Cameron, who imo was pretty unimpressive in both the Scottish IndyRef and the 2015 election but had others to bail out his platforms that duly went on the other side in 2016.

they obviously hoped that people in the end would stick to the status quo, like in scotland. Big factor was probably that big c**t boris johnson and his everything will be awesome shtick.
