Well yes. I know its hard if you are a black and white thinker but two things can be true at the same time. Antisemitism in the Labour party existed, probably still does, and is unacceptable. But a tiny minority of cases reported were upheld as being antisemitic and committed by Labour members between 2015-2019. The scale of the issue was amplified to be used as a stick to beat the left with. Facts.

they correctly identified the source of the problem and acted against it. corbyn couldn't even recognise there was a problem.

Since then its gotten even worse. This hierarchy of racism line is bollocks. Its the very opposite. You can become a political pariah for liking a post by a graffiti artist about anticapitalism that can be very tenuously construed as antisemitic if you try very hard, meanwhile Blair and Johnson can be overtly islamophobic and be prime minister. Or you can be a Labour staffer and have your anti black tropes on whatsapp leaked and remain in the Labour party. Tell me again, Baddiel, how antisemitism is at the bottom of the hierarchy of racism.

if starmer shouldn't be in charge sorting these things out, who should be in charge,

and people rejected twice by the country don't count if you want a labour govt.

Corbyn inherited the flawed complaints handling process from New Labour. Once Iain McNichol was removed as General Secretary then Jenny Formby was able to begin implementing the new process.

Antisemitism sees an uptick when the Israeli government behaves more fascist, as has been the case in the last decade. The timing of this coincided with Corbyn’s tenure. The evidence of it is that many other european countries saw a similar uptick at the same time. AS was and is an issue in the Labour party as it is in society. With a sample of wider society that consists of half a million people, you get bad eggs. Not just antisemites, but bullies, islamophobes, sex pests etc. But as mentioned, the vast majority of cases were either not upheld or not done by Labour members. The notion that Corbyn’s leadership induced a tidal wave of antisemites to join the Labour party and that Corbyn was somehow complicit is simply false. The rewriting of history to not only throw Corbyn under the bus but then to reverse back over him several times has gone too far. It’s a disgrace.

Starmer is the same old shite as the last 40 years. An old, dishonest, flabby, authoritarian coward who rather than try to bring solutions to the problems of the day instead relies on spin and distraction. It’s utterly tragic.

What do I want? Somebody honest who recognises the urgency of the economic and environmental crises and their causes (ie consumer capitalism for both). And sees that given the lag in effect, radical policies have to happen now or we’re all doomed.

Don't worry, Trump will be back next year.

starmer inherited that same system, but he managed to sort it, cos he's a better leader than mr_lifetime_failure

I’m not surprised seeing the far left start to attack Luciana Berger again now she’s announced she’s come back to the Labour Party. It’s pretty awful behaviour to be honest.

Clearly it’s awful for a sitting MP to receive abuse like that. But it is also awful for a sitting MP to disingenuously attribute attacks upon her to somebody else for not agreeing with her political stance.

It’s pretty awful behaviour to be honest.
