Her dad, my brother is stuck living in Germany Cos his German wife doesn't want to give up her job in Germany to work in the UK  there's no equivalent job here cos she works within the finances for the German healthcare system.

Weren’t we told that things were improving?

We’re told what they want us to think, like small boats crossing the channel are a “priority” for the population (they’re not) or that the economy is growing under the Tories (it isn’t). They’re so desperate to have us unthinkingly adopt their own agenda as priorities that they can’t stop waffling on about how important their chosen wedge issues are to us.

Wow, UN security council just managed to pass something on Israel...but this one was watered down so US didn't veto again and now doesn't call for a ceasefire but just for more humanitarian aid...so Israel can carry on with their bloodlust but at least more bandaids will make it in. US and Russia both abstained...Russia because they were not happy with US not wanting a ceasefire and they're such peaceniks and not using this for political reasons at all , US because...well, f**k knows...they don't want to upset their Israeli mates.

But at least it does get UN more involved now. In practice now sure how much difference that means.

here we go..merry christmas...obviously scared of potential tory attack lines about being spendthrifts on green crap...if they were never going to do it they should have not come up with this number, maybe they thought at the time they wouldn't win the next election anyway so why not. All a bit sh*t really, and will disappoint a lot of people who thought that Labour might do something at least a little bit radical. They are losing the youth vote by the minute. Instead of things can only get better it will be everything is f**ked and it isn't going to get much better

There doesn’t seem anything in that article to be worried about. It’s mostly Labour focussing on the messaging and trying to veer the focus away from the price tag which is just common sense. Theres nothing in there that would indicate they are veering away from green policies.

yes ok, hopefully, but it's that number. They should have never come out with it if they were going to be scared to promote it when got closer to an election...because no matter what, that looks like a further watering down of a supposed green new deal policy which is what they were all about. I wonder if Red Ed will quit if they do drop it?

    • Some are definitely already there with that and with another round of inflation looking like it's on the way, it certainly locks that in. And I say that as someone who also isn't willing to break the £100 marker.
    • A lot of people have said this online but does the Marvel world need new cities to play with? New York seems to be a target of all the villains to the point where you wonder why anyone in that world still lives there. Much as you can accuse me of overthinking it I guess haha.    I do agree that The Void is a compellingly different villain in many respects given the superpower is trapping people in their most traumatic memories. Shame in some respects the film came out in the post-Endgame funk Marvel seems stuck in and a lot of people missed out on it.    Speaking of, I rewatched Infinity War the other day. First time I think I've seen it since seeing it in the cinema on its opening day. Holds up pretty well imo - I have issues sometimes with ensemble casts and jumping between 4/5 storylines but it felt this one got the balance right and also properly explored Thanos. So it was good.
    • I didn't think I'd ever watched a Coben adaptation or read one of the original books, though turns out I did - I watched one called The Stranger back in 2020. Clearly didn't stick long in my memory as until researching it, I didn't know that was one of his. Queens Gambit or Black Mirror, it was not.    But clearly it's popular tripe in some respect if Netflix is going yes to everything he has to offer and are apparently about to start trying his most popular individual character, as seen below:   https://www.theguardian.com/tv-and-radio/2026/jul/30/how-harlan-coben-became-the-king-of-potboiler-tv   Plus hey. Sometimes people get a kick from watching something and deriding it as crap. Don't let this internet rando stop you haha
