Here you go.

Incredible for Labour to take these Councils, what a crushing incitement of the Tories.

Yep, nice to wake up to that. Despite my reservations about Starmer, anything that makes maggie turn in her grave is a good thing in my book.

I think I've told you before that I'm in Ealing as you said your sister lived there. The overall council is Labour but our specific ward tends to go Lib Dem with Tories in second, so I stuck with LD. Rupa Huq is our MP so it's a pretty Laboury borough.

Ah yeah that’s it, sorry I forgot.

I’d say this the results so far are pretty much in-line with expectations for Labour although they are making some gains in the red wall vote share and they probably wouldn’t have expected to take Westminster either.

And seems like a good night for Lib Dems and Greens. I really think a coalition might be the only way in 2024 tbh.

It’s important to remember that these council seats are still going through the 2019 realignment which means that any improvement in council seats will be tough so vote share is key.

The Jewish voter point is interesting. When's the last time they took Barnet?

Labour have never held Barnet council.

this Ben Walker bloke knows his stuff...much better to read his Britain Elects stuff in New Statesman than believe any silly polls published by Telegraph which were obviously a massive bit of expectation management for the tories.

some people seem to think london is just metropolitan elite middle class and the rest of england is salt of the earth working class

It's mad isn't it? There's shitloads of poverty in London and shitloads of rich people outside it.

I'm just going to put this here as I know some of you lot are nice people (not technically on topic but it kind of is in a healthcare funding kind of way...)

One of my best mates is doing a sponsored kitchen bike ride to extend her cancer treatment options. She's been on NHS treatment for two years but there are some drugs that can be accessed privately with the right funds. If anyone can chuck in a quid or two or even just share it far and wide I'd be so grateful:

I've added a couple of pints worth to the pot. My friend's wife died from bowel cancer last year and I have another friend who has just gone through 8 cycles of chemo drugs to keep it at bay. Hope Bryony has the very best of luck for the future.

    • Sadly, the ticket map below screams rear 5 blocks not on sale or never have been on sale. Especially when you look at the blue blocks with rows of unsold tickets.   And I say all of this as a big fan of Muse.
    • Personally, I don't think there will be any changes to the queuing system in place for the 2025 sale.  GFL will be aware that true bots are a risk, but they may also see large collectives of organised folks running multiple devices, containers or profiles to get an advantage as bots themselves, and then struggle to know where to draw the line without penalising folks who are simply more on the ball than others.   They will also be acutely aware that engineering tech to close those gaps will cost, and therefore eat into the money they are able to pass to the Charities, without passing those costs on to punters in the ticket price, which they will be cautious of doing especially after a 2 year break and the inevitable media coverage that will get.   This may all be naive and overly trusting of me though.....
    • went to their album launch show last night at the george tavern. it was fantastic! absolutely roasting in there though
    • I got mine yesterday but they sent the wrong ticket link, so had to email Ticketmaster and get the right one.    As for predictions, hard to see who else could do the Pulp/Sting/Byrne slot other than the Cure, and since they did Isle of Wight they maybe have an FR deal (Sting did both). It’s also the Cure’s 50th next year so imagine they’ll be doing a bigger tour. Pet Shop Boys or Kylie maybe?   Wolf Alice would be a dream. It’ll probably all be men again though.
    • Probably a couple of months yet....last ticket sale announcement was 10th October 2024.
