Best song from a musical ever. 'You give a little love and it all comes back to you, You know you're gonna be remembered for the things that you say and do' is like a whole life philosophy.

I remember listening to those lyrics over the end credits suddenly having my mind blown, having one of those revelations that's profound almost because of how mundane and obvious it is; not the love but, but the "things that you say and do". No matter what you think or feel inside, no matter what you meant, it's ultimately all comes down to what you say and what you do that affects how the rest of the world see you. There's a sense that nothing else really matters. Words and actions, that's it man.

But coming at things from a place of love will always help, because that will colour everything you say and do. So, yeah 🤯, those lyrics really got me thinking one day!

Grease was good but Grease 2 was better x

Let’s do it for our country, the red, white and the blue!  Still prefer Grease though sorry!

@ShakeyCrash I loved "We Will Rock You", it's been about 9/10 years since I went to see it though.

I confess to loving Les Miserables; I don't know if it is because my sister used to play the soundtrack on repeat...

"Do you hear the people sing..."

Tune.

Best film musical, surely as @Losing my hair mentioned it has to be Moulin Rouge? Although The Rocky Horror show runs it close! Grease and The Little Shop of Horrors get honourable mentions!

Love a good musical!

Best musical TV episode, "Once More with Feeling" in Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

"You got the mustard ouuutttttt..."

Love Les Miserables, love Buffy and love that episode.

My song would be “You can’t stop the beat” obviously unless we are including non-original songs at which point i may plump for your song in moulin rouge which i thought was really well done.

Although the ending of Grease 2 where the cool loner hero, after beating the awful bullies gets his ultimate triumphant victory by...being allowed to join their gang???

Yeah, the end of Grease 1 isn’t really that great either. Where the woman compromises who she is to be more of the women she thinks the man would want her to be.

Yeah, basically the same shitty "don't be true to yourself" moral for both films!

Although I do like a film that ends with a flying car.

Grease, and I presume Grease 2 - never seen it, is but a pale imitation of West Side Story. America - one of the all time great tunes.

Checked with my daughter and "no way is Grease 2 better". Sorry.

She does however like Moulin Rouge, Sound of Music and both Mamma Mias

Buffy was my favourite show in the early '00s. I didn't have Sky One, so my friend used to record it for me onto VHS and I used to run round (about 3 miles) at 10pm on a Friday night to get it! Angel too, when that was on.

    • Absolutely love her record, System. Definitely an album that rewards a bit of commitment.   She's right on my must-see list. Hoping she's in the Walled Garden, as I think her sound might be a bit muddy if she's early-ish in Far Out.   Ben
    • Same here, I kept trying to go on A View From My Seat to see if each block was worth it. So vague!
    • Ok, I’ve had time to process the experience now, so here is my review.   The good Barcelona - what a beautiful place! What lovely people! The city was like another headliner. Stayed in El Poblenou, and the bars, cafes and restaurants were perfect. Avalanches - Absolutely spectacular, euphoric set. Fantastic stage. Possibly enhanced by substances that I timed right, for a change. Added bonus that I don’t really remember the queue. The Cure - I’ve been a fan for 34 years, and never got round to seeing them, so this was a dream come true. The XX - The sound was exceptional. The lights and setlist perfect, giving each member their moment. Was really loud where I was standing (between the front and the sound desk), but i didn’t notice any chatters - even during the quieter moments. Also loved Men I Trust, .bd. , Big Thief, NewDad and Gorillaz. The food within Parc Del Fòrum was also a lot better than I was expecting.   The bad People talking non-stop throughout some of the sets, and shouting to be heard over the music. I had to move 3 times during Wet Leg just to be able to hear the band over the crowd. It’s probably an age thing, but I just don’t understand it. You’ve paid how much to watch these acts, and now you’re standing with your back to the stage, missing the music and ruining the experience for everyone else? Odd behaviour.   The weather apocalypse on Thursday. I genuinely thought I would be able to tough it out. I couldn’t. Left after Geese. The lack of communication from Primavera didn’t help.   Whilst it was lovely to be by the sea, and the sunsets were very pretty, the site is a bit…concrete-y, isn’t it? I kind of longed for some grass and trees. Often found ourselves standing on the steps by the Adidas yard by some bamboo. This was probably a subconscious need for some nature. The fact that some of the nature included cockroaches did not negatively affect the experience.   My daughter, for running away when she saw the drug dogs in the queue on Thursday, meaning that I lost her for the whole evening. She hid her stash under a bench, and it miraculously survived the storms.   Also, can someone explain the point in having a wristband, when you still have to show your ticket every time you enter and leave the site?   Finally, I would like to nominate myself as one of the bad things about this year’s Primabera. I should have done Primavera a lot better. It was my first one, so I’m still learning, but I think I left too early on the Thursday. Left after the Cure on Friday, so I would be full of energy on Saturday, and then barely made it to the end of Gorillaz anyway, meaning I missed Overmono, Skrillex, Skullcrusher, Kneecap, and a few more I would have liked to see.   All in all Amazing lineup. Decent food options. Cupra and Cupra Pulse stages were very impressive. Weather was perfect for 3 out of the 4 days i attended.   It was always likely to be a ‘one and done’ for me, but we had a blast, even if I am starting to get too old for all this.
