I'm just going on what Mark Chadwick told me, and he told me it's ABBA. I have no reason to doubt him.

Could be I guess, tho it would seem a bit odd that they can't be announced before Download but they can before their show with QOTSA at Finsbury Park (particularly as they're for the same promoter).

Never seen them live so wouldn't be the worst for me.  Although with Suzanne Vega on I'm not too reliant on this being a big announcement, and my brother's dead keen on seeing her

The Hives are in Germany that weekend at Highfield festival although I'll be buggered if I can figure out which night they're playing, so still a possibility if it's not the Friday, but makes it a little less likely?

As that's the day The Hives play in London with QOTSA, seems like it'll be them - well done that man.

Looks like The Hives are in Highfields festival in Germany on the Saturday at 1pm https://www.facebook.com/hives/app/123966167614127/ so bit of a tight schedule but still doable I guess?

Perhaps it's Iggy Pop, he's also at the QOTSA gig and they're claiming it's a 'UK Exclusive'?
