A few of my friends would've forgotten in the past if I hadn't reminded them and told them to do it. It's not that they don't want to go or aren't fussed.

I agree that's the difference between a group or individual booking . Any group will always have people who leave it to the lead or the organised one . But they still get reminders from the lead probably a lot more as that poor person will no doubt feel the responsibility to sort everything.

Although to be fair you're not normally prevented from paying your Mallorca balance until a week before the deadline.  I can easily see how people can forget.

But doesn't the bizarreness of it not prompt people to set a reminder? Or at least take notice of social media which they seem to engage in daily? The poster would have been out for over a week prior to the balance deadline. If they hadn't have seen that given its prominence on social media and in the mainstream media too, then I can't see them being overly fussed in that the first instance. And if they're the kind of people who don't care about the lineup and would go anyway then they're obviously obsessives/veterans and should know better.

Either way I think we can all agree we're thankful for these people and their contribution to the resale kitty that many of us will rely on and will be trying for others.

He won't need to cancel anything. Not paying the balance counts as cancellation doesn't it?

It does but I wasn't sure when the refund money comes back so was more so putting it out there to check.

presumably you have never forgotten to do anything in your life? People forget things, it happens, even if you can't see that.

I agree if they don't care or haven't paid enough attention/someone did it for them or they can't be bothered now.

I don't think Gazza is aiming that at you personally, but at the person who forgot to pay.

Taking the obsessive-ness of those who post on here out of the equation though, I still find it hard for people to just 'forget'. Maybe the rest of society have much bigger social calendars than I do, but Glastonbury is the equivalent of a week's holiday abroad, and would take a quarter out of the standard holiday allowance. It would seem silly to me to lay down a deposit on a trip to Mallorca or somewhere for instance, book the time off work then forget to pay it off. I'm guilty of having the odd gig here and there where I only remember it's happening a day or two before, but a whole week festival? Especially when these people posting on social media are obviously actively engaging in social media so would have seen all the reminders and posts about the lineup?

Whilst Glastonbury won't mean as much to everyone as it does to those who post here, to forget it's existence entirely does indicate they're not overly fussed in the first place.

Glad someone else brought up the holiday thing, whether the balance is paid it not automatically for you, you would still want to check it's done so not to incur fees etc.

Sorry to break it to you but it pretty much does if they don't take account of it.

I don't really care if they do or don't care about it, makes no odds to me. I do know they get very excited about it and have a great time when we are there though, they are also very worried about getting tickets beforehand etc and would also be devastated if they forgot to pay their balance. A couple of them don't really do social media or bother checking their emails though, they also probably rely on me to remind them too.

This is a bit false, some genuinely go for the extras and see the lineup as 2nd option. I think it's down to the individual why they want to go and what the festival is to them. For somewhere like Reading I'd agree on that.

You reminding them is still a valid source of information for them though and a bit selfish tbh. Personally for me if anyone in my group isn't ready by early Thursday afternoon to complete it then they miss out or risk it themselves on Friday. This hasn't happened mind.

True. After last year's 'Come back to the tent to find all your beer for weekend drunk and one of your tops on the fire youcanallgofuckyourselves' moment, I said never again. But caved due to the post-fest apologies.

In 2011 I came back from the loo to find my hat on a stick and the dying embers burning away on the Sunday evening. Yup.
