Edduk98
@Dan Wilcox Did you get any info from your source regarding Foos? Also, how were Paramore
emzy452
does this mean the lineup is likely to come out very soon? Seems odd that they’re doing this competition with no lineup announced
j.gibbard
Radio 1 are doing a competition on winning tickets to R&L, and they retweeted it. Possibility of a lineup today/tomorrow?

Dangerbreaks
Could mean we see an announcement soon but it also could just be them driving up more hype for it...

Possibility of a lineup today/tomorrow? nah, I'd say the comp is some lead-in publicity, so it'll be a week or more before an announcement. (that's a guess, but based on how stuff tends to get done. It's about publicity, remember)
MIchael_scarn
Wouldn't bother entering tbh, says you have to talk to nick grimshaw on the radio which seems more like a punishment than a prize.

Possibility of a lineup today/tomorrow? This is out of context, they’re doing a whole month of ticket giveaways each morning. This morning was the same thing but for download festival, before that was a load of gigs

Guest
Also I've been thinking about the two main stage thing, and I reckon if it was legit then the new main stage would have bigger dance/electronic headliners to provide variety against the predominantly rock headliners on the old main stage, kinda like how the other stage is at Glastonbury. Think that'd work pretty well, but the big names Dan gave us; FoB, Royal Blood, BMTH, Kendrick & Imagine Dragons (and then assuming Foos would be the 6th) doesn't scream 3 rock headliners and 3 alternative/dance headliners does it. You'd have rock bands clashing in that scenario, and so there doesn't seem much point making a new second stage that'll just piss people off with major clashes and failing to provide real variety. So given that either all his info is correct or none of it is, I'm siding on none of it being legit. Just doesn't seem to make sense. The only thing I would add is there's obviously been an increase in coheadliners in recent years, so a second main stage could be on the festivals mind to try and book more 'almost there' acts. But I don't think anything major like that is gonna change this year. Edited January 15, 2018 by SomeoneListeningIn

WFD
There were a few suggestions further up that it would be a 'side by side' set up, with the main stages alternating. You can see some logic in this, keeps a lot of people down one end of the site, but at the same time the surges between stages would be difficult to manage, particularly later in the day. If they had this set up, at the expense of the NME it would be a poorer deal for the punter - firstly you wouldn't have as many acts across the whole day as you would from existing main+NME, secondly you wouldn't have a biggish alternative to the last main stage headliner. (Edit - in response to SomeoneListeningIn's point on the stages). Edited January 15, 2018 by WFD

Yeah I guess that could work, but I just don't see why they'd need to do it - there'd be so many extra costs on the festivals behalf and like you say, the current main stage / NME setup works so well. I'd understand it if it was 2 main stages separated with proper variety appealing to different crowds, but it's not like the festival is struggling so why make a change that'll cost so much but provide the same bands as they already were, just maybe a few more. Damn they’re gonna go back to their old style next aren’t they? Between the poor commercial performance and the fans’ reaction, I don’t see how they can’t. I thought After Laughter was fairly good but showed more potential if anything if they continued with that sound - guess we’ll never know now. Mattymooz
The thing I don't get is that the festival already sells out (at least at Reading) so there ain't really any point in changing this drastically. If sales are dropping off (which they obviously aren't atm) then maybe a change is worthwhile? I'm pretty sure they can't increase the capacity at Reading, so it ain't like they're trying to do that either. Financially, it just seems to make no sense (especially as they'd have to pay for another 2 stages to be designed&built).

They barely promoted this album, I think paramore are pretty past the point of caring how well their albums/singles etc. sell. I think at this point the project is just gonna go in whatever direction Hayley and Taylor wanna take it (whether that be more pop stuff or something weirder, I know Taylor said he wanted to try something a bit more Tame Impala-esque).
