Love Fields

I'm curious about Love Fields. We booked it because we were guaranteed a caravan slot, albeit at vast expense. (£375) However, apparently, we are not allowed in till noon on the Weds, and we have to leave by 10.30am Monday. (This was not mentioned in their Q & As).

So, that means, NO relaxing arrival on the Tues without the traffic in order to unpack everything and sort ourselves out. Not to mention being unable to chill out for the evening with the happy prospect of a comfortable night's sleep, a nice glass of wine, and talking about the adventures we will have over the following six days.

And, then, there will be no chilling out on the Monday for the day while we wander around the site in the morning to pick up any bargains. Ultimately, we would, usually, then return around midday to pack up our own stuff before having a nice cup of tea before we leave late afternoon. We will not be allowed to do that, because we'll have to have packed up and gone by 10.30am.

It seems to me that, despite paying a lot of money for a guaranteed caravan slot, off-site, I am being very restricted - and Glasto's not like that! I didn't expect to be denied the same privileges that I have enjoyed in the campervan field in the past.

Am I being unreasonable in my hopes and expectations?

Probably a silly question, but why didn't you just purchase a campervan pass when you bought your ticket? Then you would have been able to enjoy all of the above at much less cost.

I don't feel that sympathetic to be honest but I'm probably being unreasonable.

No, not if those relaxed hours were the main reason you booked and it wasn't mentioned. How long ago did you book? If within 28 days then you should be entitled to a refund without any quibbles. Even if it's longer then they might still give you your money back.

Of course, the guaranteed place might still be worth it to you, but that's up to you. Refund or put up with it seem to be the only options. You could try asking for a discount because the hours weren't clear, but good luck with that. - it's not exactly a buyers market, being sold out already. And it's not as if the hours will change.

They really should have advertised the hours more clearly, as you say the Tuesday entry is one of the big advantages of caravanning. Having said that, the hours are pretty clearly displayed on the T&C PDF. Doesn't help you though.

There's not enough CV tickets to go around, many didn't have the option to simply buy a ticket....

As it's in the first part of their terms, I'd say yes. You are being unreasonable.

Count yourself lucky. You could have booked Pennard Orchard instead. That lets people in on THURSDAY at 11am, so it's even more of a ripoff.........

I think I've seen posts on here where people said about passes for the CV fields changing hands last year on ebay for up to 600 quid, which I believe is why they changed the system this year.  I had a panic myself recently and was convinced I'd failed to get a pass, so I can understand the desperate push to get whatever you can.

I think in those circumstances the reality is if you're determined to come by van then of course you have finite choices available :(

Having run the campervan ticket thread in 2014 and helped many to secure a pass right up to the last minute, its a shame that GFL haven't extended the cancellation deadline of these to nearer the start of the festival.

I can see there being quite a lot more space in the fields as peoples plans do change and campervans break down. Due to the changes to the system this year, the pass is now linked to your ticket, people have had no alternative but to spent good money on these so called glamp sites. I looked into Pop Up Motel as an alternative place to pitch which advertises as being minutes from gate D. When pressed for how many minutes it turned out to be 20!! That is some walk so I won't be doing that. Love Fields didn't even reply.....

I may not need one as I have no ticket at the present time, fingers crossed for the resale! :(

We stayed in Love fields last year and thought it was a really good option. But one of our main reasons was logistics. We came by car, have a tent not a van and couldn't arrive until Thursday. Camping  in Love Fields meant that we could turn up Thursday afternoon, take our car to our pitch to unload and camp just outside the gate by the circus field, which meant that we were nearer to the bits of the festival we are interested in than manny of the onsite camping fields. The showers, loos, space around the pitches and the onsite bar where you could charge phones were also a plus.

If you want to just be able to do it in your tent or when you're out and about you can get one of these which should last the best part of a week.

Hi, I have purchased a package with tickets from Love Field and want to verify that our tickets will be there upon arrival. Does anyone have experience with them and can tell me how it works please?

Thank you

You should probably double check what you've bought as a matter of urgency.

Love Fields don't have a positive relationship with the Festival and don't get allocated any tickets.

From their web site:

Do I need to buy a festival ticket separately?

Yes. We are unable to supply tickets as you must go through the official channels. Please see www.glastonburyfestivals.co.uk for details and only buy from OFFICIAL sources (see tickets). We strongly recommend you secure your tickets before booking with us.

How can I check? I have searched for an on-site number to call at Glastonbury regarding the tickets.

They have said they have been allocated some tickets as one of the neighbouring farms. That seems likely.

Have you actually looked properly at their website? It says quite clearly at the bottom of the home page that the number to call is  07712 0186914.

Also if you've bought a package there you will have had a confirmation email from Owain. Also, how much did the package cost? If it seriously did include tickets for a couple of people you would be looking at paying nigh on £1,000 at least.

Their web site says they don't get issued any tickets: http://thelovefields.com/dev/thp.php?load=yurtco.thp&page=booking.html

And given how toxic the relationship is between Love Fields and the GFL organisation, I'd be inclined to believe that's the case. Some neighbouring farms do get issued tickets, but they're usually the ones who have a good relationship with the Festival such as Windinglake Farm.

There's a contact number on that page. If Love Fields are supplying your Festival Tickets, I would strongly suggest you call them to confirm.

I was looking for the Glastonbury office number

You said you've purchased a package from Love Fields - if that's the case then the Glastonbury Office won't have any knowledge of this, and won't be able to help/advise you.

Don't know if it really is open but can you still buy Campervan tickets?

If you cancel Love Fields, how much deposit would you lose? Might be worth taking the hit for an extra night and an easier Monday.

Wolf can be very helpful though.

Sorry - typing too fast! I hate predictive text! Regarding the Love Fields refund, I cancelled my £375 caravan pitch there on Monday because I managed to get an East campervan pass. They kept £100 back and refunded me the rest immediately, as per their T&Cs.

    • If you didn't see melt banana at Apolo. Go see them at the festival. Insane.
    • Interesting, and thanks for coming back to give an update! I've seen that the second stage looks bigger than usual too, looks to be a Serious Stages - Stellar Stage from distance photos.    Seems like sizing wise stages have been scaled up somewhat this year.
    • I see its cancelled now but they did leave it really late to announce plus they are up against Kelburn Garden Party Festival not to far from the festival site.
    • Easily my favourite set of the day.
