Is this where they reorientate the pyramid ? 😀 swear that was a rumour at some point but can’t remember where it came from … not the best time to start it mind

To use  the current popular phrase, we need boots on the ground giving us info until the camera returns!😉😊I remember that rumour.

I'd take a walk, but the security has been really tightened recently with all the usual entry points now closed off, plus reports of security personnel asking casual visitors to leave 😢

Camera switched off, security tightened and folk asked to leave. Maybe some serious work about to start or just decided to get a bit of peace and quiet!  I remember it was mentioned that in this fallow year they were going to plant a lot of trees. During the last fallow year, 2018, some of the fields were in crop so I’d imagine they wouldn’t want visitors tramping through the fields.

we have a friend that works there all year around and he told us in 24 that in the fallow year they wanted to take some of the hedgeline to the right of the pyramid away and turn the stage slightly as they believe that would improve sound quality and obviously open the field up more

thats the kind of info I find more interesting than the lineup weirdly 🙂

Certainly there’s scope to remove some hedge line (yes,I’m a saddo and keep images of the pyramid )😉😊

For what it's worth - I don't think anything happens in the near future. The existing stage is folded into the festival licence, and so they'd need to update that (or apply for a separate permission) in order to make any substantial changes to the stage footprint.

I reckon that if/when they do make those changes, it won't simply be taking the existing structure and rotating, they'll use the opportunity to both make the stage itself bigger (so it can host standard size touring productions and is less cramped for storage) and also shift it forward a bit to give them a bit more space to play with backstage and especially at the sides.

The audio footprint would be an entirely separate conversation - all of the stacks are temporary structures independent of the stage, so both the direction direction(s) and the overall number can be adjusted as desired to cover more of the field without touching the stage itself - indeed, that's something they already have done, there was a reconfiguration between the 2023 and 2024 festivals that ensured the back parts of Row Mead were much better covered and presumably that's something they'll do again if they bring more space into play.

I'm no expert on this but wouldn't turning the stage anti-clockwise, to provide sight from the right of the Pyramid, also move the sound field to impact more of the village?  Granted, as you suggest, the sound can be directed however is required but not moving it to match the stage rotation would surely then result in an unnatural sound field for the audience?

Personally I'm with you that we're not about to see anything change Pyramid-wise, and that the camera is likely simply off because of some changes impacting the building on which it is sited.

fallow would be the best time surely ? although I guess the actual moving wouldnt take so long as its just a frame . wonder how much planning would be needed if the shift was just the existing structure

Tbh it's pretty common for the sound footprint of the stage to not exactly match the orientation of the stage. West Holts is a prime example - they deliberately constrain the sound on the southern side of the field in order to avoid blasting out Greenpeace.

Don't think it'd feel uneven at all, especially as we're potentially talking about a few degrees rather than a full on right angle.

Fallow would probably be the best time if it's something that they're actually intending to do, and want to get the whole lot done in the short term. But tbh we don't really know that. If they do want to make the change, then there's 3 largely independent pieces of work - to open up the field itself, to move/reorientate/recreate the stage so sightlines are better from the opened up field, and to adjust the audio footprint.

By far the most difficult part of that is changing the actual stage as it (the current incarnation at least) has foundations laid and it'd require a permission. Could do the other two no hassle without telling a soul.

Quick search of Somerset planning applications throws this up.  Approved in November 2025, various aspects, but unless "permanent regularisation of Pyramid structure" alludes to shifting it there's nothing to suggest it's about to happen.

I suppose if there was to be any significant work done this year they would have already asked for permission.

Is it a definite that they’ve shut it off? We’ve just been for a roast at The Crown Inn - Pilton (beautiful place if you are passing check it out) and saw lots of people coming from direction of the site in wellies etc on holidays and I assume had been down there for a walk. We wanted to but didn’t bother because I wasn’t sure, normally we would go up the public footpath past Mikes house and down into the festival fields that way

Those roasts are superb as is the decor and atmosphere in the pub.

    • Ghost did it on their last tour  and there was a whole article of people complaining about it at the Manchester gig cause somehow they werent informed and didnt know why there was a massive queue to enter the venue. At MSG everyone was given a souvenir ticket which had their seat info written on it so you knew where go to. Itll be fine.
    • If anyone happens to have a Sunday ticket (or two) to sell then I would be interested in buying for face value. Thanks!
    • NIN and Bjork for sure 😉
    • When are  the stage splits ??
    • 13th Primavera (Thursday was definitely making me feel like this was the cursed year).  Blood Orange was such a party by the end of their set but we all knew that rain storm was approaching.  So gutted Massive Attack didn't play after the false hope of a new rescheduling, especially knowing that Elizabeth Fraser & Horace Andy were backstage with them!  Managed a bit of Melt Banana but was just so over the weather by that point.   Friday was awesome, Rilo Kiley were so much fun.  Never been the biggest Cure fan but made the effort for them after Thursday & Robert Smith sounds like he did back in the 80s.  PinkPantheress & Viagra Boys were also great.   The highlight for me was Sudan Archives on the Saturday, she was stunning & with the Olivia Rodrigo surprise set too it made up for the Thursday sh*t show.  Dijon & Knocked Loose also superb.   Shoutout to Cardiacs on the Tuesday too, they were so LOUD, played a storming set.
