Tent recommendations

Managed to get my ticket in the resale yesterday and can now think about getting everything ready for the festival! Can people please help me pick out the ultimate tent please? It's to do me and my wife and we'd prefer something that is very spacious and has a decent sized porch for sitting in shelter. I'm looking at the following and am worried it might be rubbish quality due to the price.. http://www.amazon.co.uk/CampFeuer%C2%AE-Tunnel-Person-Orange-Black/dp/B0026RWD8M/

Any other recommendations at a reasonable price would be much appreciated! I've been to glasto twice before, we shared a two man tent in 2011 which was far too small, and last year we stayed at Worthy View which I felt was far too far away from the main festival.

That one looks decent, the biggest issue i've found with cheap tents is with the stitching. If its a bit off you can end up putting too much tension on a pole causing it to snap, or a sag in the fly that pools water and leaks.

I've found this to be more important than hydrostatic head, even 3000+ isn't going to stop a litre or two of standing water coming through. Saying that we have a pro action (argos) tent that is still going strong after 10 years so its luck of the draw really.

Amazon have a great return policy so buy it and see if it's any good?

I really like the look of the Eurohike Avon. I might get a second hand one if it's in decent condition.

Well worth it, if my son hadn't bagged my old one (which has been drawn on with marker pen to look like a tortoise) I'd have happily donated it and saved you a few bob. It's done about a dozen festivals and is still going strong. Ideal for 2 people, like a palace if your on your own, can easily sleep 4 in the main tent and 2 in the porch (have done this in the past).

Go Outdoors have a 'Spend and Save' promotion on until tomorrow which can be used on top of their usual Price Match + 10% guarantee. I managed to get this 3 man Vango there yesterday for £133 instead of £180!

Look around for discount codes/weekend sales. I got mine for £67.99 delivered. I've used them before, they are the ideal festival tent.

yep, i've got that (or maybe even the 4 man version...) and it's bloody brilliant. very spacious (for just me, that is) and held off the rain. favourite tent i've ever had. hoping it lasts a fair few festivals

The aventura tents I wouldn't personally recommend, but Halfords Urban escape branded tents are good quality gear at a good price, I know they've put much effort in to addressing quality and design issues to ensure that every year it is a better range than the year before.

Does anyone have experience with this brand of tent..?

It looks perfect on paper, in that it seems as though we could sit comfortably in the porch in the rain and plenty of sleeping space but I'm worried that the relatively low price means they might cut back somewhere in the production?

I actually have that exact tent and it's very good. Only thing to watch out for is your drunken mate FALLING OVER ONTO IT AND SNAPPING THE FUCKING POLE! But I brought duck tape so it was actually OK in the end.

I've not seen that specific tent, but Quechua are an own brand for Decathlon. As a general rule, I've found Decathlon products to be very good quality at below average prices - Most of my Glastonbury kit comes from there these days.

I've been using their tents since 2008 and don't have any complaints regarding build quality.

Perfect thanks, must be a popular tent and I'll take that tip on board, although I'd say I'll be prone to being the drunken one tripping on it!
