Hidden bits

I particularly like the pretty unhidden double decker bus on top of the Park hill. Nice for a chill and essential snug if the weather is shite early on in the festival, before the big stuff opens. Ideal for Wednesday wandering.

Taking to a chap who deals with infrastructure at GFL, aparely the woods near the stones will be a bit more than just that this year. Putting a bar or something in there.

Ooo interesting, maybe something a bit like the Spike would be cool!

Not exactly hidden as such, but the backstage bar in Block9 (maceos?) was an excellent place to escape the madness of the SE corner.

Thats a good point, I always see Maceo's in the very late hours and not sure if I saw it or where is is, Do u need bloc9 crewband to get in? I normally can get a shangri la one.

If you need something to get in, they will sell it to you on the door and give the money to charity so no need to worry bringing anything.

The requirements don't change usually, but the place that asks for a tattoo (Snake Pit) isn't going to be there this year and there may well be a new bar that asks for something similar.

Thank you Untz. I will definitely be looking out for this sort of thing but I think i will be too overwhelmed by the non-hidden stuff that I wont notice the mysterious door in the corner. But leaves plenty to see for future years.

This is the thing - the non-hidden stuff is incredible, and you'd never be able to do it all in one festival. A lot of the 'secret' places seem to just be bars, so I wouldn't worry about them - if you find one, all the better!

Having said that, the alternative entrance to London Underground looks like just the kind of batshit crazy thing I'd love to experience at Glastonbury. Any idea where it is? I presume it's down the right hand side somewhere, and probably only open at certain times. Hope they don't move (or remove) it cos it was on telly last year.

Yeah, where is the other entrance to the London Underground, that looks nuts.

Last year it was on the left handside of the structure, a small fire door with a grey fence in front, I went in about midnight on saturday but they only let three in at a time and they know your name somehow?

Know your name? That would freak me right out

Perhaps they have a fancy pants visual recognition thingy with everyone's registration photos but that's probably too Big Brother-y. Probably just magic, yep I think i'll go with magic

Ah all this is getting me way to excited. I think the rabbit hole changes slightly every year. The first year I went in you got a carrot from the mad hatter then went through the small tunnel to a big bar area with an illuminated dance floor. Then when the crazy people dressed as cards moved out the way you could lift up a section of wall which was on hinges and crawl through to another tunnel which either lead to a cinema area or a big room where there was a tea party going on. I have some pictures on my laptop, I'll see if I can dig them out and post them here.

The next year we went in it was all different.

It's on the left as you walk into the area with the tenement building on your right. Yep, you need a crew band to get in.

Ended up there most nights after the main stages shut as there was plenty of space, where as everywhere else is completely rammed at that time.

The Rabbit Hole club entrance (a tunnel lit with fairy lights that you had to crawl down) was hidden behind a curtain in the RH tent in 2010. You had to get a carrot from the Mad Hatter and answer a riddle to get in. It was a magic, mad experience. The following year, it wasn't hidden any more as too many people had heard about it, so safety needed to be managed (according to a friend who works as part of the RH crew). Still a good venue though :)

Ive not really spent much time in the Park. At night is there much on, or just the Rabbit Hole (which is on my to do list this year).

Its only that it is a long walk up hill to get there if the Rabbit Hole is full.

You've also got The Bimble Inn. We were there till about 5am one night/morning. The band we went to see started at 3am. Also has a decent priced bar in it.

Possibly my best night last year. You also don't have to deal with the crowds at the SE corner,so is worth a night up there. Plus arcadia, crows nest, aren't too far. Even the dance village ain't that far really, less crowds makes it easier to get between
