I'd be amazed if the queue is more than a minute at a festival, there's toilet blocks all over, even if you have to go back to the club class block for a bit of luxury it's unlikely to be much more than 5 minutes walk from in the arena.

I wouldn't stress it. Enjoy the experience, you'll love it

I have never seen a q at the toilets in the pods field, worst q's are between main acts near the main stage but they're still no more than 10' 15 tops

Does anyone know of any lifesharing opportunities, Im going on july29th to volunteer and am looking for a ride from lancaster to the site. Anyone with a spare seat? Will contribute for fuel.

Also the sites so small that if there's a queue at one of the main toilet areas you can walk over to some less busy ones.

I'm an experienced festival goer, so nothing much will faze me, and I know there won't be anything we can't cope with. I have never done Kendal Calling & as this could be my last year at festivals I am delighted to be going this year. ( I have the beginnings of an illness that will prevent this in the future).

So, a cple of questions.....

Emporers field showers. Do you have to queue for ages & are they clean, with hot water?

Is there a handy grocery shop, for my morning fresh milk?

Antswife - we're in our late 40s and also in a podpad. Come and say hello! My friend was a festival virgin last year so he knows how you feel! I've been to quite a few festivals, but the one thing that worries me is the weather - I hate wet and cold!

A few questions, please. What's the mobile phone reception like on site? Roughly what time do the food and drink places open in the morning? And if we're in the Deer Lodge, is there any point getting club class tickets as well? Thanks.

Me & the hubby are 57yr old festival virgins ticking off my bucket list and I'm wondering what I've done! I've booked a podpad and got a club class ticket, have I covered all options, it's the toilet thing that's worrying me!!!

We went to see Basement Jaxx at Sheffield tramlines last night so I've a much better idea of what I'm going to need but the queue for the toilets was 45mins! OMG

We were like you 2 years ago and going to a festival was the best thing ever

You'll like the Podpads - we always use them (mainly is we're 50ish and are well past sleeping on the ground)

Can't comment on the showers as I've never actually used them but I've heard the queues are pretty long in the morning.

As for your morning milk, there's a general store on site that sells all sorts of stuff like that from milk and bread to fruit juice and normally other chilled bits like bacon

The phone reception various depending on who your with, i'm on O2 and usually find it fine for making calls but not the best if your using the Internet on the phone.

Some of the food and drink stalls have advertised 24 hour service this year, I'd guess they'll be the ones in the village green camping area. There will be stalls open early ish doing breakfast rolls and late night In the arena most places will still be serving at 1 or 2am

Are there any catering facilities in the camping fields or is everything in the main arena area?

Depends where you are, there are a separate few food places in emperors field but you'll need emperors access to get to them.

There's also a block of stallss in general camping some of which are open 24 hours. Apart from food places there's a general dealers there with stuff like milk and toilet rolls on sale

Thank you. Our group is currently mid-debate about whether to bring a camping stove and kettle. I never have at other festivals but a few of our group have never been to a festival before

We took a camping stove last year with the intention of having brews/making breakfast. We made some super noodles on the Thursday before the arena opened and decided it was generally more effort than it was worth with all the cleaning up afterwards etc. I would guess it depends on how much of a budget you're on - and if you don't mind the extra time it might take to cook.

 

There was a stall in deer lodge that opened early morning and did breakfast rolls and tea/coffee, so that was ideal for us. I don't remember many late night food trips, but we never went hungry. The food seemed reasonably priced for a festival and we had the usual collection of cold junk food stored in the tent.

Yeah it does sound tempting! I guess I've just got used to carrying as little as possible for the mammoth trek from the car to the campsite at Glastonbury. I certainly won't miss that this weekend!

It's easier to plan a couple of trips to the car, lot less hassle and it's not like the daunting return to the car trip of glastonbury
