Only gripe I have with the Park is incredibly poor sight lines and the sound can be washed away a bit, I have watched a load of bands up there in the past but I think I have only ever really got eyes on a band 3 or 4 times - possibly due to me being 5' 7" - having said that Caribou up there in 2011 was pretty special,

Isn't it facing a hill though!?

Justice subbing the John Peel?

Jayyyyzus

they seem to have basically ceased to exist

i think the park has pretty good sightlines, you can see the stage from loads of places. they have moved its positioning slightly the last few years i think,

good area when its not really muddy, absolute nightmare when it is.

to me low to middle other, the park and john peel are all pretty interchangeable for bland placings. it must be odd to have 3 stages possibly all wanting some of the same bands.

Issue I have always faced is that if you go up past the stage and to the hill the sound is dreadful, to actually get a decent sound you need to be in amongst the area with those seats that look like caravans-ish - sound is good from there but then you (I) can't see anything, hoping to get up there this year and see a few acts though, one of the more interesting stages in terms of music.

Could enter shikari headline the JP? I originally had them down as a JP sub but I could see them getting the leg up, they definitely have a cult following.

Although I can see a JP headline cutting their crowd a bit, dunno if they could hold any strong competition against a pyramid headliner, an other headliner and the numerous other stages!

Enter Shikari are properly shit though, can't see them even having the cult following to pull off a set anywhere near that level, at Reading maybe but I can't see it at Glastonbury

I agree they are hopelessly woeful, but they do have their following, I wouldn't think they'd headline JPT, sub or somewhere on the other stage

I think it would be better if they were to sub. Glasto always bills them substantially lower than R&L (Compare their Glasto 13 slot with their R&L 14 slot). I think the point about them having a lower crowd if they headline depends on who headlines that night but would most probably be the case, crystal castles going up against. Arctics/Portishead/Horrors springs to mind.

They have the material to headline JPT no doubt but I'd prefer it if they were to sub, I think Palmas/Enter Shikari/Cribs would be a perfect JPT trio to go up against the main stage on their most pop heavy night.

    • Tbf that happened to me in 2022 so not a one off. 40 euros to drive down 3 streets. I'd have done a runner but the reason for getting the taxi in the first place is cos I couldn't walk no more.
