Weather thread 2015

We've got GFS, yr.no and ECM all looking good now. Predominantly cloudy with the occasional light shower (probably Friday) and occasional sun. The high over Greenland is still breaking down.

There is still an Atlantic low to worry about, so no chicken counting.

We can be pretty certain in around 48 hours, but it's looking very good. The charts are no longer volatile and the low which has been threatening us has pushed away. It would take a collapse of Newcastle-Arsenal proportions for us to lose now.

From the Netweather thread:

MY THOUGHTS This morning's output maintains the relatively quiet theme weatherwise across the UK for the next few weeks. The basic pattern remains for the bank of High pressure to the SW to persist but with a slight shift of orientation to the ridge further South than of late sufficient enough to help engage more very warm air at times up over Southern Britain from the SW through the period. It is hard to say whether this would mean sunny and sultry conditions or cloudy and humid but the chance of some very high temperatures in the South at times over the next few weeks is possible albeit with the proviso that the odd thunderstorm could break out as weak troughs from the West and NW engage the hot and humid air at times. The North and West of the UK look more traditionally characterized by slightly breezier conditions with rain at times and temperatures close to average but even here some warmth could spread up from the South at times. So all in all a very typical pattern for the time of year with a lot of benign but very acceptable weather for most with the South and East fairing best while the North and West have the biggest share of any rain that's going and even here some dry periods can be expected.

Bear in mind that he's talking about the next couple of weeks, but there's still the possibility of thunder if the lows from the North push southwards. Currently all the other charts for next weekend look good, so whilst we may see some light rain things are looking very positive overall. :)

Not really, more like being 2-0 up and then collapsing. A slight shift in the jetstream and that low will shit all over us.

I hope you're right.

My group have been moaning about accuweather for weeks now.

Things are looking positive. Or we could be Tottenham 3-0 up at Old Trafford.

As a Watford fan, I know it's not over until it's over, we lost 1st place with the last kick of the game because a fan chucked a flare on the pitch and distracted the players momentarily.

Even at 5-2 with 10 minutes to go we need to focus and not do anything stupid, let's take off a striker and switch to a 4-5-1.

Good to see another hornet on here - welcome!

Just saying it's still volatile, not that we're fucked. People are saying it's 2010 again, but people need to calm down!

Could well be absolutely delightful, but then again it might not be. I'm on the fence.

I'm not exactly on the fence, but I'm leaning against it.

I can't see anything being nailed on this year with that Atlantic low, but it looks promising for mostly dry and overcast which keeps everyone happy.

I'd be less confident if we hadn't started to lose the volatility in the charts. Like I said above in my post though, the next 48 hours will tell us a lot more. Let's hope we stay on this current track. (I've never suggested it is going to be 2010 btw, nor do I think I'd want it to be that warm).

Dry and sunny would keep a lot more people happy!

It's currently dry and overcast here up north, but it's bloody freezing! Especially for the middle of summer!!

    • Another Kraftwerk one for me today, as just back from seeing them.
    • Completed my 2026 survey. Put down Super Furry Animals as my most wanted for next year but suspect the moment has gone for that. Popped a big shopping list in the box for who else you would like to see. 🙂
