They've tried by adding the Dance Stage & 1Xtra. I don't have a clue what the solution is, maybe just keep it as it is & just cater the usual school leavers as their first big fest. Paid by mom & dad.

I think the curfews in the UK are a major disadvantage when compared with what the other European festivals are able to do. From the 2 outside of the UK I've been too both have had a great format for how their days are set out.

Nos Alive - Main stage until 1:30am curfew with bands and major acts all day, all the other stages remain open until 4AM with the dance stage having acts like Dillon Francis, Diplo, Jamie XX etc. and the '2nd stage' having acts like Elbow, Parov Stellar, Caribou, SBTRKT, Daughter through the night.

Sziget - 24 hour festival for 7 days, all genres of music throughout the day and so much other stuff to do and the 7 day ticket is still cheaper than Reading!

I don't understand how any of them make money in Europe, especially if so many UK festivals struggle to make a profit.

Nah, just get wasted.

I'm totally planning to do that, but isn't the silent disco ever on either Wednesday or Thursday? I know last year it apparently was but we never got to it, the fair opened up though on the Thursday

i got there on the Thursday last year all we did was drink and meet new people. i think some aspiring bands were on in a bbc tent or something maybe. I've seen a few people joking about first timers getting raped in the long drops on other threads xD I was fine though so no need to worry.

Reading or Leeds?

Leeds have the Relentless stage on the Thursday normally...

Reading opened up the fair but fenced off the rest of the arena last year... never bothered heading over for the silent disco myself so can't comment if that happens on a Thursday either.

    • Great, thanks for you answer. Then I'm on the same boat and we will buy hers through her separate account and ticket!   8th Primavera for us!
    • Location doesn’t matter too much, both events will draw a chavvy roadman crowd with this lineup, although Bramham Park is well out of the way so that’s an issue in itself but the day ticketers still turned up in droves last year.   The two issues for me are that at Leeds they’ve shoehorned random acts like Blossoms and Jamie Webster into a pop lineup, and price. It’s £130 a day for a lineup catered to teens who won’t be spending £50+ on beer per day. Is that sustainable for FR?
    • If its true and I'm not sure why it wouldn't be fron where I saw it and they were said to be playing ages its a shocking booking. The Fatboy of Glastonbury
    • I feel like it's just us being old tbh. Festival is doing fine. Never seen anything to suggest either site is doing badly, let alone on the brink of being scrapped.
