Pukkelpop 2015

Well we are not assuming it's an 100% exclusive act.

Neither was I. Maybe they will get someone like Kanye or Blur but any exclusive first announcement on their respective European tours will be either down to it being the 30th edition (and them making a big deal of it) or because they've thrown a shed load of cash at them. You're not the only one to say it but I don't get this theory that Blur have to sell loads of BST tickets before they announce any Euro festivals. What bearing does a gig in England have on a festival in Belgium or anywhere else in mainland Europe for that matter? They've said they're doing more gigs so it's not as if they're holding back announcing them so people panic and buy BST tickets thinking that's the only chance they'll get to see Blur this summer. I can understand why they would delay announcing any other dates in England or the UK but not elsewhere.

Glad another RW announcement has passed without inflicting too much pain or misery. No one I really want to see so hopefully that trend will continue in the future. Did have Jessie J down as a dead cert so that's a blow!! What on earth is that all about?!?!?

Interesting news on Black Grape Dave. 20 festivals must mean there's a good chance they'll turn up, that's providing they do actually turn up if they're booked.

Theyre's a good chance they will. Shaun Ryder's been the most coherent he's been for....well, forever

No Doubt have reformed. Very much a Pukkelpop type band, although no European dates announced.

Think Kanye will be in Europe only in July, and will go back to U.S. in august+September to do some outdoor dates there. Blur is the most likely option in my opinion. The killers, Kings of Leon, No doubt and Jack White are doing American festivals but at the moment they don't seem interested in doing European dates.. And I don't think they'll come just to do pukkelpop/sziget/lowlands or other smaller venues like rock'n'heim/higfield/rock en seine.

Still eagerly awaiting the line-up announcement even though me and my mates cannot make it this year. Would have been third year in a row, probably nowhere near as many as the veterans on here but was hoping to make it an annual thing!

Going to miss the Boiler the most

Definitely going to return in 2016 :bye:

Maybe I've missed the discussion, but surely they'll be doing the announcement from SXSW, won't they? What a great opportunity.

You may well be right. I know Chokri and his inner circle go to SXSW every year anyway as they always pick up a few bands (Perfect Pussy and Arthur Beatrice being examples from last year). Their showcase is next Wednesday but I think it will be Monday when they announce.

Monday, Wednesday - who cares? Let's just have some names!

Also, disappointed re Flaming Lips, they were fabulous the last time they played (or the last time I saw them play anyway)

I was extremely pissed the last time I saw the Flaming Lips at PP so would have loved to have seem them a slightly bit less sozzled.

Also, from another forum (don't know if it's true): supposedly some stages will have a name change and different programming style/usage.

And a one time reunion by Evil Superstars! (which was one of the biggest rumours for the 'big surprise' in 2010)

Are mentioned in the other forum which stages will supposedly change?

No, what I said + Mauro Pawlowski curating a stage one day is the only news he had.

He has been claiming for months to have inside information though. So him releasing this now must mean that an announcement is soon to follow.

I hope programming for Club Stage will remain the same. Would love to see Ride as a Slowdive replacement there.

Fingers crossed for the shelter, too. Not a punk/rock fan myself, but the festival as a whole benefits from the atmosphere and diversication.

Shelter Stage is my favourite one, it's what make this festival special for me. If it dissapears it will be my last Pukkelpop... hope everything will remain the same!!

I'm thinking a special tent for Despacio, the same as Lovebox Festival.

Personally that'd be great for me and I think an arena where the music isn't so full on all the time (endless d'n'b) and has a bit more groove and diversity would be brilliant.

Be interesting to see if that turns out to be the case, although they pretty much have most of the main genres covered so not sure what musical changes they could bring in? The only stage in recent times that's been curated is the Boiler (Ed Banger, Boys Noize and Dave Clark have all taken the helm at least once) but not convinced it would work on many of the other stages. You could definitely have a label night in the Castello though, someone like Brainfeeder, Warp or Numbers would fit the bill perfectly. Hessle Audio sort of did something a few years ago but that was not a takeover as such, just a few DJs rounding off the night.

I'm of the opinion, 'if it's not broken then don't fix it'. I like the set up as it is but will reserve judgement until when, or if, they announce any changes.

Was gonna mention about Despacio Dave, perhaps this will be the year?

That's why I personally think it might be related to the Castello. I've noticed in the past years that the Castello so close to Boiler and Dance Hall didn't always work so well, especially when there's intimate acts going on in Castello. Perhaps they'll just restructure the map, and give some stages a new name in the process.

On the other hand we might also get a new set of (physical) tents, given the Club collapsed last year.

I don't really have trust in the Despacio idea. Yes, it sounds great and it's something that Pukkelpop would do. But a 1k people capacity stage at a 55-60k festival? I'm not sure how that'd work out.
