Absolutely love mercy. I can take them as catchy music but also like the whole drones / U.S. military message behind it (being a proper conspiracy theorist) so im pretty excited about this album. Probably helps that I like all their albums too...

SHIT! Crikey best song of the lot for me!! Sounds like a band really in the moment!

I absolutely the sections or transfer from one to another for thats sake. The way the harmonies change is beautiful.

As for the production is seems a bit 'Unsustainable' like but the big rock jam feeling of it is great, and the typical half time 'breakdown' at the end is brutal. Sounds slightly RATM and Jack White styled at parts but this song but definitely has an old Muse edge.

I only know two Van Halen tracks so I dunno. I said from the off that the fingertapping intro is basically a Hot For Teacher rip off but I've no idea about the rest.

Yeah, I'm not sure whether I like it or find it funny. Think it's a bit of both really. It's an odd comparison but it reminds me of Panic Station because of that.

Just read the NME review and this is the funniest thing I've read all day:

The title track – do not adjust your NME – is a choral piece based on 16th-century hymnal ‘Sanctus And Benedictus’, featuring a choir of Matts intoning “My mother, my father, my sister and my brother, my son and my daughter, killed by drones”.

Hilarious. Spectacular. Quite looking forward to hearing it now.

Really enjoying Reapers - bit overproduced in parts, but it's definitely one to look forward to live. Easily the best song so far.

And I like how the outro is basically the Freedom outro

I just don't know what makes them think it's a good idea. I suppose it's better like this than if the albums were just boring but nowhere near as funny.

Bad ideas are what makes Muse the band they are today. I think The 2nd Law probably had the highest concentration of bad ideas on any album ever made - while something like the aforementioned Lulu is a bad idea in conception, Muse aren't content with that and they pack as many terrible decisions in as possible - Let's make a dubstep track! Let's let the bassist sing 2 songs! Let's work with Nero! Let's make a funk track! Let's end the album with 5 minutes of the same piano line with a newsreader played over it! And so on, even down to the tiny details like that stupid guitar bit at the end of Supremacy.

The result is something that, while undoubtedly terrible, is really hard not to enjoy. It's a train wreck in slow motion.
