I'm confused about people describing it as "edgy" when people are also saying it is crawling with cops?

It does look brilliant, but can someone explain what makes it edgy?

If I went, which I probably never will, I would take nothing but acid. Looks the perfect place for it.

As for Ket, it can be sort of fun in the right circumstances, but I cant see how anyone could think a festival like this is a good place to do it! Completely pointless.

The cops are on the outside.

In many respects it could be described as a bigger version of Glastonbury's naughty corner, and with loads more energy (the type that youngsters gets you and old gits doesn't).

It's certainly more edgy than Glastonbury is nowadays.

was thinking of going to this

does anyone know what the situation with campervans is? Are they outside the main fence like glastonbury?

Also how strict are they with the amount of Alcohol you take in?

Cheers

if it's the same as last year they're inside the fence I believe, but stuck in a place that's away from everything else - probably the most remote part of the site, and I'm pretty sure it's at the highest part of the site that's used.

(I was in my van, but not in the public cv bit so I've only got what I think was the case to go on).

I guess what you see there at the top is the caravan and motorhome field?

I think not - I think that's perhaps a pic from 2012 and not 2013?

edit: the photo filenames say 2012.

The site expanded quite significantly for 2013. I think it has done again for 2014.

In this pic, I believe that the cv field is at about the same hight above everything as the photo is taken from, but out of site to the right (off the end of the pic), at the end of the trees you can see on that side of the pic.

the site is infact far bigger than what is shown in the pictures above. There is another section of a similar size (if a bit larger) behind the trees on the right hand side of the picture. There is also another section further behind that called Trenchtown which is dedicated to Reggae and Dub. The part of the site shown in the picture that NeufNeuf posted is of the area generally known as 'Downtown' which includes further sub-sections and includes many of the main stages such as Arcadia.

You can camp all over the site but I'm certain that the campervans were inside the main fence but were quite far away from both the Downtown and the site on the top of the hill. The site wasnt too big though so it was relitively easy to get from place to place. Although that bloody hill did provide some difficulty on occasion :sarcastic:

That's why there's a travelator going up into the tree area on the right of the pic I posted.

So the bit in the middle is 'it' as far as anything non-camping is concerned? Like a pocket Glastonbury?

I get the impression that's one of three such amassings but the layout keeps changing. It's much larger than the bit you can see there

I can think of at least 3 stages that would be out of shot in that photo up the hill behind the woods, 'streets' with micro-venues that open up at night, a bandstand, a market area, in the woods themselves there was a psy-trance area and another woody venue with bands playing, and there was the Chai Wallahs tent & stage right over the far side in a campsite...

not true at all. There was no travelator there in 2012.

In the pic I posted, it's right at the far end. And only goes up half of the hill.

Nope.

That's merely one bit. There's at least 5 other distinct entertainment bits (behind the trees to the right, and in the trees at the far end.

It all sounds brilliant, but the thought of police and sniffer dogs running through my car definitely isn't.

As far as i'm aware they didn't go thru any ticket-holder's cars.

They were certainly searching all vehicles entering the inside-the-fence site (crew, performers, and I think campervans) at some points - tho I've heard at other times they weren't.

And i've heard that there were sniffer dogs and searches for pedestrians (ticket-holders) entering the site - tho again, not at all times.

It's completely disproportionate to actions they'd ever take against "the general public" in any other walk of life, but Hampshire police clearly need to fiddle their all-crime figures via the 100% arrest record that nicking people for drugs will give them. ;)

It is completely disproportionate, going to a festival seems to be deemed as reasonable suspicion for a stop and search. What a waste of time and money.

Fair enough but in neither pic can you see if it is a travelator or not and in both pics the line of what could be a travelator looks the same, so hardly worth splitting hairs about? The gist is the same in what I was trying to say - albeit I was wrong in what the visible line actually was in 2012! :sarcastic:

the travelator goes up alongside a path, yep.

So you can perhaps see the path, but not the travelator.

Yup as I said... but if worth repeating then you just did. :sarcastic:
