Im sure i will have a good time exploring the festival. This is my first Glasto so i will just enjoy taking it all in i assume, but as a first timer i have to say, so far the Line-up is shocking.

Rumours like these are doing nothing for my optimism.

tough crowd...

I think the lineups great. This thread does give off a lot of negativity towards the acts tho.

to be fair, when the initial lineup was released i saw almost all positivity towards it. best reception i've seen to an initial announcement. but that was a while ago now and we've all been anxiously waiting for this final headliner, so there was always going to be some negativity with whoever it was, but especially with the result we got. an impressive booking, but also a pretty 'meh' one, and shrouded in controversy

People get bored with what they have; which is probably part of the reasoning behind releasing a lineup it parts anyway

You obviously can't please everybody and perhaps this year i'm one of the ones who "can't" be pleased :)

There are a lot of Artists who i haven't had the pleasure of seeing and was hoping some of them would have been on. I know timing is always an issue with album releases etc, but you obviously come into a festival dreaming of your wishlist and unfortunately hardly any of mine have been hit.

Fleetwood Mac

Muse

The Stone Roses

Kendrick Lamar

Kings of Leon

Radiohead

The Libertines

Coldplay

Arctic Monkeys (seen)

The Strokes

Kasabian maybe

Interpol

I appreciate a lot of these play quite frequently but was hoping i might be able to tick some of the list. Obviously this leaves me with a lot of new music to discover, and i'm sure i will have fun doing that. But from a personal perspective, I generally get more from gigs/festivals when i have a vested interest in an artist.

Don't get me wrong, it's my favourite lineup for a few years, it'll just be a disappointment if it ends up Wellephant Man and half The Who (again).

Not fussed about Swizzle personally but she'd have been twice the booking of a heritage act playing the same stuff.

Ye I agree. I could have explained better

Not everyone can be happy I guess; at least you've taken it well.

Judging from your tastes, some time with the spotify playlist by Brave Sir Robin (around here somewhere) will bring you a few gems :).

they're almost all headliners (in fact, only Interpol and Kendrick aren't) so it was always going to be very unlikely that you got more than three of them, especially as a lot of them played/headlined in recent years. you just chose the wrong first year unfortunately! i'm sure you'll still have a fantastic time though. what i'd give to dislike a large portion of the lineup and be able to explore the festival constantly

And here I am, hoping that Kasabian don't get announced for festivals I'm going to.

They are some of the bigger artists i was hoping to tick off. Not all of them obviously, but i kind of hoped i might get 1 :)

Seems i was lucky enough to get tickets on the wrong year :)

I've been away with the military the last 3 years, so couldn't go then, so bad timing perhaps.

I'm not raining 100% on the whole festival btw. There are some smaller/medium acts i am looking forward to seeing, but i obviously was hoping for a Headliner or two that i like also.

A lot of people do seem to rain on them, but having never seen them, i would have some interest in giving them a go. Even though general feedback doesn't seem great.

The weird thing with the line up so far is, i'm probably most looking forward to seeing Kanye of the Artists announced so far.

My Zen seems to way off what everyone else wants :D lol

Do they? I think you'd need to cover a whole bunch of festivals to hit a decent number off that list - your expectations in term of legendary line up might be rather high.

I wasn't expecting all of them, or even 3 of them.

i just hoped for 1 or 2 really. I.e. Muse headline and Kendrick on another stage as head/sub.

I thought that was semi-realistic being they haven't done it for 4 or 5 years and he's on a roll at the minute.

Go to V Festival for a 4-year cycle and you'll get each of them at least once...

yeah tbh i think a lot / all of us were expecting Fleetwood Mac to pop up originally, and even possibly Muse, and probably Kendrick, and maybe even one more of the headliners you listed - it just didn't turn out that way unfortunately!

I'm hyped about Kanye too. There's a few of us, we just can't be too loud about it or the haters will come and slag us off.

Well Muse, Coldplay, Kings of leon, Arctics and Radiohead have all played a few times,

again, i wasn't expecting all of them. That's a list of artists i was hoping to see a couple of. I don't think that's too unrealistic in terms of expectations.

I'm not sure Glastonbury is the festival for you, the artists you have vested an interest in that post aren't going to pop up very often are they

It's not all about headliners, it's a much bigger experience than just watching pyramid headliners, there's many others stages and areas to explore

    • A question has crossed my (questionable) mind;   Has the size of the Green Fields remained the same as other areas have expanded / been added on to, since say, 2014 (the last time that I attended)? Are they 'lost' within, or well attended?    That's actually two questions. The second one just slipped in at the end by taking advantage of my lack of means to stop it.
    • I'd say the same about Kylie.    Annie would be awesome, Duran not so much, and on the issue of them wanting a beanie slot, that probably rules out a fair few others who I think would fit the bill very well... and are legitimately more entitled to a headline, and/or too expensive.   Was just about to suggest Chaka Khan, but see @Gnomicide has beat me to it!    What about someone like Bryan Ferry?
    • It's certainly gone more that way, but then they went completely in the opposite direction and had Cat Stevens.
