If you want to sell a product it is not advisable to bludgeon someone to death with images and videos of it. The videos of a poker website are killing my phone and now I would rather set my genitalia on fire than visit their website and spend money there. Surely there are more intelligent and discreet ways to advertise them?

It would probably be more annoying to spend months/years maintaining a website that you made no money from.

And for me it would be more annoying to go to this website only to find out it no longer existed.

i'll remove my post (although it's now been quoted so won't do much good?) but was just a suggestion for people so bothered about the ads that they're considering not coming back onto the forum. the adverts can become quite obstructive at time (some of them crashed my computer at times) so it would be a shame for people to stop coming on here because of them, although i fully understand why they're here and would never argue against them being on here

FloorFiller, search for a thread called something like "I don't want Mackeeper", read the first couple of pages then come back if your account is still active.

Mod - can this be moved to another sub-forum, as it seems to be about the eFestivals rather than Glastonbury festival?

I have no problem with advertising at all as I of course understand why it's there, but on my phone the giant Sam Smith ad makes it impossible to actually use the site menu. By all means keep them but it would just be good if I could use the website properly.

to clarify, i don't use it on here. i get that this site relies on advertisements to continue running and fully respect that. i'm not gonna say that some of the advertisements aren't overly obstructive or downright intrusive at times though, to the point that they totally diminish the ability of using the site (although i know that's down to the advertisements themselves and not this site). let's let this three die / let Neil block it. i apologise for my prior comment. i wasn't thinking!

Disclosure: I'm in charge of advertising technologies for a major UK publisher.

You have probably set something on your phone to refuse 3rd party cookies on your browser. All ads rely upon these cookies (or localStorage) to help minimise the impact of how often they are shown and to help limit the annoyance factor. Believe it or not advertisers don't want you to get annoyed with their brand in this way.

If you are blocking 3rd party cookies (Safari on iPhones do this as default) then these 'interstitial' style ads can not be frequency capped (as they would be normally). You could try turning on 3rd party cookies, you should then see this less frequently.

Ive had to basically stop using the forums app because of the sam smith add, on a 5s because of the shift in screen size it makes the back button unclickable on occasion.

    • I’m struggling to stay awake for this Brazil / Morocco … that goal helps though 😀
    • I’m not Scottish but am going to try to do it. My plan is to try and get an hour sleep between games, put the alarm on and hope that’s enough to get me through!
    • Any Scots on here with any tips as to how they're going to try to stay up for the 2am match? If indeed that's the plan.
    • If it's over 30-35 degrees C, it's ok. But it does feel like people just want any opportunity to crowbar in any advert where possible.
