Backstage Passes

I had interstage passes in 2011. If you are really desparate for a ticket and prepared to pay for luxury offsite camping then you might still be able to get one at around £400 face value.

In terms of the benefits there were none really. The bar was more expensive and the short cut that year was marred by the deepest, stickiest mud I saw anywhere. There were a few B list celebs and you could get away from the crowds but that was it really. It seemed very quiet.

Wouldn't do it again because we didn't feel part of the festival proper when we were in there.

Had a hospitality pass a few years ago that enabled access to backstage cut through /bar / cafe between Pyramid and Other stage. My abiding memory is a just lot of BBC staff and their families usually hiding from the festival proper and an overall "us and them" feeling

Last yr nr Block 9 about 2 in the afternoon we saw people with passes going into an area and we wandered over to speak to the grumpy old security guy and asked to go in , he said no and we got chatting and we kept bugging him to let us in , he let us in to was a staff rest area with a proper pikey caravan and about 30 people dancing around it , Fat Boy Slim was DJ'ing in there , spent 15 mins and wandered off.

Have been backstage at Electric Picnic a few times. Best thinga bout it is you can leave your bag there so you don't have to go back to your tent. Not that much of an advantage at glasto since its so big.

I've usually been DJing so there's a few free beers there as well.

But as others have said, the main fun is out where everyone else is so I usually keep my time back there to a minimum.

I think they would be cool, if they had it as a sort of "extra stage" somewhere. No times or anything just if you was wondering past, you could watch sort of thing.

Some nifty acoustic performences over the years

Opened a gate with quite a few others into the interstage area (from Other stage end) at the end of Lady Gaga. Strolled down to where the bar and a big illuminated world thing was. Looked around, everything very boring and quiet, and strolled back out again. Definitely not worth paying for at all!

The best thing about backstage areas, as somebody who never gets any passes to anything, is that it keeps the kind of tossers who're extremely pleased with themselves for having something most people don't, out of my way. The toilets and shortcuts would be nice, but I'll take the hit just for having somewhere that weeds out self-important plonkers any day.

I completely agree with everything said here. I've never understood why anyone would want to pay extra to go backstage at Glastonbury...I've been going 15 years and still haven't seen all of what's out the front.

I had backstage passes at Latitude last year and the only good thing about it was they didn't check your bag for cans when you went into the main bit, but thankfully that's not a problem we have at Glastonbury,

    • Tbf that happened to me in 2022 so not a one off. 40 euros to drive down 3 streets. I'd have done a runner but the reason for getting the taxi in the first place is cos I couldn't walk no more.
