Does anyone of you know whether it's "The Wailers" playing or "The Original Wailers",

as both bands exist and both are touring (none of them in the UK though) I was just wondering which of the two groups we'll get?

as far as I'm aware if it says The Waliers then it's going to be The Wailers (tho it wouldn't be the first time Glasto got a band name wrong).

The Wailers are touring 'Legend' at the mo, so you're guaranteed a hit-laden set. How good they might be tho depends very much on who they've got fronting them, some are better than others.

Just checked a bit over the internet:

The only "original" is the Family Man on bass, the rest of the band has never played with Bob Marley,

even though the keyboarder Keith Sterling has worked with Peter Tosh and has been with The Wailers for quite a while already...

So The Wailers (the band we have) are the actual Wailers from Bob Marley & The Wailers. The band we don't have, The Original Wailers, are really not much at all to do with The Wailers, and aren't original in any way.

I don't know the history here, I really want to see them depending on who's in the band. But why has a band called themselves the Original Wailers if they have sweet FA to do with the band?

Sort of.

They're the continuing band entity, but only one of the band from Bob's time is a current member (Aston Family Man Barrett).

<useless information>

'The Waliers' were not originally a band, but a vocal harmony group consisting of Bob, Bunny (Livingston) 'Wailer' and Peter Tosh.

Any idea where they're booked?

nope, sorry.

Saw them support the Stone Roses at Heaton Park in 2012, a great set. Everyone loved it.

Can honestly say if they are as good as they were then, they wll be the highlight of the festival

I've seen them a fair few times over the years at both festies and halls, and I'd say their performances can vary a fair bit - mostly on who is fronting them.

I've not seem them as recently as you, but the last time I saw them (2010, I think) was probably the best I've seen them, so I'll keep my fingers crossed for a good one. :)

    • Tonight was a disgrace. There wasn't *that* much rain, and it wasn’t *that* windy. A festival of this size should be able to withstand some adverse weather without it bringing the whole circus to a standstill. And if it is true that part of a speaker on the Revolut stage fell…   As for the communication - announcing Massive Attack were playing at 12:30 and then nothing for over an hour while people waited in the rain. It’s laughable it really is.   If I said I’ll never come back again I’d be lying. The shambles of Barcelona 2022 and the disgrace of Madrid 2023 didn’t stop me, so this probably won’t either.   This festival gets so much wrong, but it is always saved by having such killer line-ups. It’s just a shame it treats the fans/customers/consumers like animals. Compare it to somewhere like Glastonbury and it’s worlds apart.
    • Yeah, I admit that a small part of me felt relieved when they announced that MA are canceled.. But on the positive side- got to see Florence Road afterall, and they were great
    • Glad I could take the €3 bus to Playa Catalunya! Hope y'all warm and dry up.
