I heard her called 'the barmiest bird in pop' once. Apparently the comment came from a musician that had worked with her. I'd say she is as fairly radio rental as the rest of us, but what she creates has more purity than just mental. It's much too clever and orchestrated.Would love to see her live. It reminds me of how I allowed myself to be led away from seeing Bjork at Glastonbury. One of those moments so stupid that nobody has invented a scale to represent the buffoonery involved.

You're right about Bjork, possibly the best set I ever saw. Hyperballad was actually awesome, the kind of sound that could do only be made by the Other Stage. My jaw literally dropped. That stage gets a lot of stick, but has seen some bloody brilliant performances. Yes, I am using 'Awesome' and 'literally' correctly. I was in awe, my face went limp from the bass.

Don't feel too bad, I was stood in a pool of shit in the dance tent while Radiohead headlined in 1997.

Yes, I thought of that as I wrote the post. In my defence I personally am not that guilty, as I can be led away from male created music just as easily. It's to my own detriment, of course. I do know a little bit though. infinitesimally small compared to people on here but I do know that walking away from Bjork was a stupid decision. I had the fear at the time - too much dope tipping things in the wrong direction. Ejoy kate Bush all those who are lucky enough to go.

I think that women are more likely to be dismissed as barmy or mad, whereas men are more likely to simply be hailed as visionaries.

Even though in musical circles Kate's talent is appreciated, there were plenty of comments about how she looked frumpy and fat compared to the 70s when she won an award for 50 words. I couldn't believe it! Here is a real talent who is still going to new musical places and all they can mention is her weight?? She does get respect, but it's still not a level playing field, even for her.
