Glam it up - West Holts

Doing some research, it seems she's a former vocal coach on the Dutch version of the X Factor, and a Radio 2 favourite who first came to prominence in the UK following an appearance on Strictly Come Dancing.

Hurm.

Is this gonna be one of those cases where someone manages to write up a whole load of stuff on the internet, writes a glowing Wikipedia article, and manages then to get themselves a major booking, but has never made a single musical note in their life?

Is she Caro Emerald, a Dutch sensation and number 1 seller, or Stacey Jones, a hairdresser from Dorking?

I saw her on her last UK tour and it was an excellent show. Great band, great vocals. She did the best part of two hours with no support act, and did a great job.

Some of here newer stuff is a bit weak lyrically (Liquid Lunch sounds like an cheap TV advert) but generally a lot of fun. She was making music and popular (Smooth FM/Radio 2 playlist for what that's worth) long before she was on Strictly/X Factor or whatever.

If she does play, I think it would be a great show (if you like that sort of thing)

She is responsible for one one the most shockingly stereotypical middle-of-the-road middle-aged Radio 2 singles in recent memory.

I'm sure to the right crowd it's great (and I'd imagine you can find the right crowd for her at Glastonbury) but it just made me cringe every time I heard it. And no I didn't go and listen to all her other stuff and yes my perception of her is based on one single.

    • Ok, ok, I have done it! Not because of limitless upvoats but to support the Efestivals site.
    • She was/is 100% in the mix, but I don't know specific timings and how it relates to that interview. They've clearly gone after her, again.   It could be read in a number of ways - she was in negotiations at that point, she was talking about BST (and he's interpreted it, as we have, as Glastonbury). Who knows
    • So sad to see the news that John Douglas of the Trashcan Sinatras has died. They only released their latest album last week and it is wonderful.  So underrated and a member of such a great long running band that have meant so much to me over the last 40 years. https://trashcansinatras.com/blogs/news/john-douglas-1963-2026
    • listening to jamie east's podcast earlier he said that he'd heard fender is confirmed, and that as of 2 weeks ago Madonna hadn't been approached.
    • which would make that Graham Norton interview nonsense .... although obviously things change
