OK, I'll come out and say it. How much of the stuff about strict checks and "spot checking" is propaganda put out by the festival and its security teams?

It reminds me of the "honeytrap tents" the police said they had onsite to catch tent robbers. Anyone ever seen one?

Peoples actual, verified experiences don't seem to match up with what's being put out as PR.

I've seen people turned away from wristband collection with non-matching tickets; I've seen people told to remove hats or glasses and then allowed to pass despite a bit of scepticism; I've actually been to the festival with someone who bought someone else's ticket (via these forums), who was quite prepared to get a bus back to London if it hadn't worked out (she got in just fine, having made an effort to change her appearance a little - dyed her hair and eyebrows!)

People do get in, but people also do get turned away - you have to be prepared for either eventuality.

As for honeytrap tents, last time I camped on Pennards there was a tent behind ours that popped up on the Thursday morning... the evening it was surrounded by police; and it was gone on the Friday morning. Depending on who we talked to nearby who'd been watching, it was either a tent that had been set up by the police to catch thieves, or it was a dealer who'd been running his operation out of it and had been busted. So perhaps the honeytrap stories aren't as apocryphal as they seem... or maybe they are :)

The only time I've been involved in dodgy festival entry was 12 years ago when my daughter and her friend decided to try to get in on the '12 year olds and under get in free when accompanied by a parent' deal.

The only problem was that they were both 18.

I was already there and they came by coach. I went up to the Ped Gate to meet them and told the stewards I was meeting my 12 year old daughter and her friend.

I'd told them both to dress right down and put their tits away. But I couldn't believe it when I met these two demure '12 year olds.'

Luckily they were both short, which helped, but my daughter's friend had even turned up in her old school uniform!

They both proudly showed me their carefully Photoshopped birth certificates with amended dates and off we went to wristband collection.

"Do you want to see our birth certificates?" they asked. But were told not to worry and were issued with kiddies wristbands.

We then had to try to keep calm and walk the length of the field until we passed through a hedge and out of sight and then gave out massive "Woohoos!"

After a night with us, the next morning it was makeup on, tits out, and they were off to join their friends.

What sort - if any - of refund can you get if you have paid the full balance of your ticket but can't go at the last minute through illness or something?

Totally understand the strict ticket rules to stop touts profiting from sales but would hope there is some flexibility to allow tickets that can't be used to go back in the system and for the original ticket holder to get their money back

It will be such a miniscule amount of people that find themself in this situation that it is not worth reducing the charitable donation to fund a system to deal with this highly unlikely scenario.

I bought tickets for my boyfriend and I off slats through this forum last year. Two of his group had dropped out the week before and, having decided that we could pass for the photos we decided to risk it. We met him at about 9AM on the wednesday morning, got the tickets and went straight through without any hassle.

I think a lot of this was down to the busy gates and likeness of the photos but my mum (who had been given a ticket by a friend) arrived on the Friday night to empty gates with a photo that looked nothing like her and still managed to get in...

It's risky but if anything is worth the risk it's glastonbury

    • Not necessarily but it should be, Download have a habit of messing it uo when others get the bookings on point. Good Charlotte I doubt are playing 3rd down and that too 3 that day while dreamy is too strong. I think you'd have one another day to help sell weekend tickets. I also doubt Papa Roach play.

    • Another Kraftwerk one for me today, as just back from seeing them.
    • Completed my 2026 survey. Put down Super Furry Animals as my most wanted for next year but suspect the moment has gone for that. Popped a big shopping list in the box for who else you would like to see. 🙂
