Nah thats ot a concern They turned a profit from that in the end. I just think the Pyramid Stage restricts their pyro show and they're practicing for that.

I think it is their choice. There was plenty of other pyro at RaR for other acts, so I can only assume that this was their choice.

Come to think of it, on other shows from the past few I've been googling, there hasn't been much pyro going on.

Exactly yeah. They need to get the show into tip top shape before they play to millions live on the Beeb. So thats includes no pyro on stage by the looks of it.

Perhaps they are saving all the pyro they can for Glasto. Like they only have a certain amount of gas thru can use on a tour and they are saving it all for Glasto. If so we could be expecting a blitz!

For what possible reason would they have to "save all the pyro"? I'm pretty sure they can afford to give it the beans every night they want to/can do.

They fucked up Justice twice? False start like?

Two false starts for Justice, it only came out as the winner for song of the day at the last moment (lots of people voted during St Anger which led James to say "I guess not many of you like St Anger then".

I think we'll definitely get Whiskey, it looked like it really went down well with the crowd. Maybe earlier in the set to keep the casual observers happy with something they know.

Only watched part of last night's set as I'm one to avoid setlists as to not ruin any possible surprises.

Saw part of Creeping Death and it sounded great. Upped the excitement for sure.

Being from Dublin, songs like that and The Wild Rover etc piss me off as it reminds me of tacky pubs selling expensive paddywhackery to tourists.

if Whiskey In The Jar makes it in to the setlist at the expense of something else (Blackened seems like one they might leave out due to how skullfuck heavy it is) i'll be pissed off. far too many great songs in their back catalogue to be playing silly covers

I was also debating if I should watch them at Glastonbury or not. Having just seen them in their natural environment was great, but do I want to see them at the big G (and potentially flop), I'm not sure.

The thing is if you enjoy the show it hasn't flopped. I wouldn't miss it for anything, even though i have seen them loads of times in the past.

spot on, mettallica have never been ones to tow to an occasion, sod playing songs just to please the type of audience play a Metallica set-list goddammit! I wouldnt mind whisky, I dont actully think its that bad a cover but if like you say its at the expense of a set staple for the sake of it being glasto then thatd piss me off. espcially at the expense of blackened! love that tune!

It's never too soon to see them again, they will be as professional and spectacular as last night, without a doubt.

My feeling is let them flop to all the doubters and leave them to the masses who want to really watch them.

The BBC and the papers will make or break the show regardless of performance.

only because it (for some reason) keeps getting voted in to their setlists. it'll probably be included in the Glastonbury setlist (and Blackened almost definitely won't) but fuck it, every song on either side of it will be a stormer so it's all good
