if it doesn't, it's just further proof that lots of Prince fans have been known to talk out of their backside.

So either way those Prince fans of old are knobs.

Was it Prince fans who made the Hendrix references?

yes, an awful lot of the time it was.

Sounds to me like it was just your mates who were the knobs! You can tell them I said so!

What, for saying 'Hendrix' back at those who'd dropped the name at them in the first place? I don't think so.

But hey, perhaps you should tackle Rolling Stone mag about it first? :P

he's a pretty good showman & my guess is if he does play, he'll nail it.

Much the same was said about Bruce. Constantly. It took about a year for those who said it to retract it and admit the truth.

I can see Prince going the same way if I'm honest. Just as Bruce thought it was a Bruce show, I suspect that Prince will think it's a Prince show.

That sort of thing rarely works at a festival.

Anyway, I'm sick of all this bickering and arguing. Here's the headliner that we've all been waiting for. I'm pretty sure that will keep everyone happy and silence these boards once and for all!
That's 400,000 tickets and people are still queuing. One tenth of Ireland can't be wrong... can it?!?
(I didn't have the nerve to start a new thread :sarcastic:)

which is pretty much what I predicted, even saying you wouldn't enjoy him.

You predicted that Bruce would go down a storm any everyone (except me ) would think so.

You said that's what happened in the days and weeks afterwards. It's not what you say now.

You even told me that I'd made up the countless people who told me they thought it dull.

You now say yourself it was dull.

Do famous bands ever play anywhere other than Dublin over there? Considering the size of some of the "cities" and county towns (Tipperary is about as big as my street) it wouldn't surprise me if the answer is no, but it's a bit of a fecker travel-wise for the music fans on the West side I would have thought.

Wha? Who said what back to who now?!?

(I'm turning into tony... eek)

Sorry, I do jump around a bit, and make it hard to follow.

Back then, Prince fans would invariably bang on about how he was the best guitarist in the world.

Back then, if anyone said such a thing then the words 'Hendrix' or 'Page' were exceedingly likely to come about within a sentence or two by anyone within that convo - and often from the Prince fans.

errr.. no I didn't. What's happened is, in your mind, all Bruce fans have morphed into one, so anything that anyone said, apparently everyone said.

Ahhh, OK.

I'll ignore the fact of you telling porkies about having said it was (paraphased) dull, and just concentrate on how much of a fruitcake it makes you now by saying it wasn't.

'Best guitarist in the world' is always going to be a subjective thing, it isn't an achievement that anybody can rightfully claim.

I would personally class Prince as 'up there' with Hendrix, Clapton, Page etc. I wouldn't make a bold statement to say he was better though, just that perhaps I enjoy his guitar work more personally.

'Best Guitarist in the world' is and always will be subjective, because I don't accept technical ability as the be all and end of all of guitar playing, for example I think Jimi Hendrik (whilst tecnichally proficient) is quite dull on the axe where as I feel Isaac Brock (Modest Mouse, self taught in a basement apparently just yelping over anything he could play in a really erratic fashion) has gone on to carve a trademark sound that I absolutely love.

As a result, in my mind, Isaac is better on the axe than Jimi Hendrix.

I find it exceedingly hard to do the same - in fact I find it laughable - on the basis of his hits.

Whereas with the others you name, you can clearly understand why the comment is made on the basis of their hits.

    • Not my favourite year either, despite liking the lineup more than previous years. Not sure what it was, I guess Thursday really put the brakes on things. But yeah I'll be back next year hopefully. And maybe Massive Attack will return...
    • E-mail summarizing Saturday - Primavera Sound 2026 Journal Day 3. As in previous days, it's going to be on the website soon, I think.
    • I was surprised as well. I met more than 20 different people on both Friday and Saturday that had come in reusing QR codes.
    • Where was this announced, if i may ask?   I really lucked out with a great spot for Ninajirachi up front with ample dancing space. What a crazyass vibe.   Overall it wasn't my favorite edition but the Friday and Saturday experiences justify a return trip next year.
