If you can suggest a better place to find out information about festivals then I'm all ears. I love the speculation and theories but not when they are dressed up as something more than they are (ie an educated guess).

This isn't the Neil show. I don't come to listen to his news and there are plenty other people on here with good information. Frankly I haven't believed Neil's "sources" for years, I disregard them as the guesses I see them as and I try not to let it stop my enjoyment of the forum.

On most forums you wouldn't have a clue who the owner of the forum is. You should change the name to Neilfestivals

Oh, so you don't mind arguments after all.

I'm either the best guesser in the music world, or you're not as smart as you like to think you are.

It's one of those. Feel free to take your pick. :)

Mmmm: Are the above statements and Neil's refusal to answer Trebor's questions all linked?

Or is his refusal to answer merely the fact that now we know he knows something, he can't confirm or deny any of the acts for fear of process of elimination.

Straws for everyone to grasp there.

When you eliminate the impossible, whatever is left, however improbable must be the truth.

To be honest I included Depeche Mode in there not so much for what they took from their synthy forebears than due to the undoubted influence they had over the dance music that followed.

Gary Numan / Tubeway Army also belong in the lineage.

See this is what I mean, semantics again. I NEVER said you had claimed any are "categorically playing this year". It's only one post mate, surely that's not hard to decipher.

What I did say, and I stand by it, is that you take sensible and well educated guesses and then imply that you know more than you do. That you're privy to some info that we aren't which suggests they are or might be playing.

If I can quote yourself from last year, from the Gigwise article on Fleetwood Mac, Depeche Mode and Elbow

...but we're about as certain as we ever get that Elbow, Fleetwood Mac and Depeche Mode are the three bands Michael Eavis was reffering to many months ago when he said he had the 2014 headliners sorted"

Russy, my quote button isn't working but please enlighten me as to this "grudge"?

And by the way, I bring nothing to the discussion but neither do I disrupt it or act the big man to the gathered masses. It's not my forum but if it was I would act more like a moderator and less like a dog with a bone. If Neil has sources (beyond the forums of established acts) then they are f*ckin dire!

Apologies for weighing in to the debate without the required 9000 posts but I stopped posting here a long time ago due to the endless pettiness.

Scruffylovemonster, the statement isn't incorrect but all 3 bands are.

But, Neil was "as sure as (he) ever gets" that they were the headliners so surely it follows that Neils "sources" were all wrong

Yeah that's true, didn't say they were the headliners but that they were the bands that Eavis was referring to. I guess unless Eavis confirms whether or not they were the three he was referring to this is a non-starter.

I love this time of the year. Theres rarely ever any firm confirmations anywhere so people are like hungry wild dogs. Lots of unwarranted nastiness, slagging off, lots of "oh Mr Efests doesn't know whos playing hes ruined my Glasto" (even though most of the bands are probably not even confirmed as booked at this stage) and so on.

Its like a pressure cooker. Or a slowly tightening vice.

Of petulance and irrelevance.

Great times! Very entertaining.

On topic, Princes current setlists don't really interest me in the slightest. Including that nonsense he played at the Billboard Awards. 5pm on Sunday will do me for Prince.

Yawn.

My whole point is there was no need to claim you knew who the 3 headliners were. Whoever said Eavis didn't even know is right, he does it every year! If Eavis doesn't know how does Neil know?

Ok Neil, WHY back in July were you were "as certain as you could ever get"?

Was it a rumour you had heard?

Was it a source within each of the bands?

Was it a source within the Festival?

Was it a feeling you had?

Fair question I think, and you cant be worried about upsetting a source who ended up giving you false info

He might do to me at some point down the line. He's done it before.

And I'm quite happy to admit that even sometimes when I believe I've got solid info it's sometimes wrong, but that's the nature of things were people claim to know stuff and I have to ultimately take what they say on trust.

====

Just to clear up my Fleetwood Mac line, there is no Fleetwood Mac this year. It was the 'jack' bit that was of relevance to me posting that - as in there's jack shit reason for me to bother when it's being digested by morons. ;)

I might fleetingly take the Mick tho.

    • Thanks so much - that's very helpful. Someone else mentioned getting a train from Loughborough to East Midlands Parkway, and then a festival shuttle from there to the site. I think they were then going to come back on the Skylink Derby to Loughborough - I assume this is because the trains don't run as late as the Skylink, otherwise they would just come back the same way they came?! Is the transport hub a long way from the main stage? Just wondering what time I would need to leave Linkin Park to be sure of getting a shuttle. As I say, I am sure it will all be clear on the day, even after a few beers! Just hope the rain stays away...
    • I really don't think they would put Olivia Rodrigo on Occident stage. If it was her, they would put her in earlier Mordor slot and move Big Thief or Little Simz to Occident.   Fontaines DC are more probable, but don't really match the hype. However, again, if the hype was real, the artist would end up in Mordor.   That being said, I would love to see Fontaines DC tonight.
    • After all the good advice on here I had a nice visit to the site earlier in the week.    Walked down from Pilton village to Hitchen Hill and down the footpath to the Wood by Woodies.    Really strange seeing the site empty of 100,000 people. There is far more hedges and woodland on the site than you remember when the festival is on. Can see the stone circle and some structures still up on site. And looks like Worthy View has some camping going on there during the summer too.   Lots was fenced off with electric fencing to help wth the cattle grazing. Is really amazing how they set up the site as its hard enough accessing the area by car and foot nevermind all the kit needed to set the festival up. As others said you can't walk the whole site but nice to see the site again after a few years away   Pilton is also a lovely village with a nice village hall shop and post office attached, and got to speak to some locals who told me a few tales of past festivals down the years. One house for sale there would be lovely to live in - if only I had £2 million going spare
    • 6music just shared a video of all of Fontaines DC singing along to the Cure last night. It'll be them. Booooo    Olivia might get up for I Love You though...
