Still avoiding the question Neil. How did you know that's who Eavis was referring to? Band source, Festival source you'll be giving nothing away telling us where the info is from/

I can't say, because I would be giving stuff away.

If I say "festival source", there's limited people who would know and over time of me saying "festival source" Eavis would be able to identify who. If I say "band source" the same applies. You will not bait me via your poor reading to give anything away.

But you'd be surprised where i sometimes get my info. Before now it's been a conversation overheard in a bog - and which was one of the bigger bits of info I've had, and was spot on. The other day I had some that was over-heard in a public open space.

Usually when someone makes an outlandish statement the emphasis is on them to prove it's correct, not for a doubter to prove he is wrong.

I cant prove it, which is why I'm asking Neil HOW he knew

The proof of what I say as a certainty can be seen in official announcements that prove my statement correct year after year after year after year.

That is - logically - the only proof there can be.

Yesiamaduck, why are you answering for Neil? How do you know how his rumours come about

Neil, no one is asking for the name of a source. Just an idea why you thought those 3 bands are playing? I fully expect you to swerve this again btw

Scruffylovemonster, I'm going to try and specify this one more time. I KNOW he never thought those 3 bands were playing. BUT he did think that's who Eavis was referring to. My question is WHY he thought he knew? Who told him?

mrtourette, 11,000 posts and that's your contribution? I've been missing out all these years...

It's my opinion that you imply you know more than you do.

You're welcome to that opinion, just as I'm welcome to the opinion I form of you from all this. :)

I just think it's a bit pathetic.

You're welcome. I'm glad I've made your day.

As are the insinuations that because my opinion is different that I must be from another forum, campsite or have some sort of grudge. I mean come on people, he posts endless rumours, never substantiates them and ends up wrong much more than he's right, why do you have so much faith in him?

you really are very poor understander of words, aren't you? To the extent that your own judgement of me could apply - because yes, your ability to understand even some quite simple things is quite pathetic.

Care to tell me the definition of a 'rumour'?

because I had information from a source or sources who I felt could be trusted that those bands had been loosely lined up.

FFS, what do you think I'd say? That I read it in tea leaves?

Ok, fair enough.

You all seem happy to believe Neil's claim he has "sources".

You're all happy that sometimes these come to fruition and sometimes they don't, that some are right and some are wrong

You're happy that he keep his sources to himself (even when he overhears it in a bog)

You're happy to take Neil at face value despite absolutely no evidence but you want me to prove he's incorrect

The example I posted is far from the only example and was just that, an example. There have been loads more over the years

And to whoever used Arcade Fire as an example of Neil being right, well he wasn't and he didn't predict them as headliner. They confirmed themselves and up to that point Neil himself didn't think they would play. To "believe" him that they are playing because they are now a TBC ignores the fact they are TBC because they confirmed themselves

If you have enough guesses you're always going to be right some of the time

    • Yep, honestly this seems like the most likely option right now.
    • Agree. Also there was a lot more crossing over between stages. I know they need to put the cure, the xx and Gorillaz on the main stages but if they could have put your Blood Orange, Big Thief, Baxter Dury on Cupra and Occident with Jade and Pinkpantheress on the main stages, it would have been a massive improvement.
    • 100% THIS! I haven't quite been able to put my finger on it, but I think you've just nailed why I didn't enjoy this year as much as usual. In last years edition, the likes of Slowdive or Big Thief would have had evening slots at Cupra or Occident, instead of being shoved on to the main stages during the day. Apart from the very biggest acts (ie The Cure, the pop headliners), most performances at Mordor just lack that special "wow, I'm so lucky to be here" feeling that I remember from the Jesus Lizard and Anhoni sets that you've mentioned.  Sidenote: I wonder if there's a decent chunk of ticket holders that gravitate towards Mordor simply because it's the biggest stage, without really caring who's playing at that time, thus the increased (and incredibly noticeable) yapping.
