i read that as the style of show itself will be exclusive to bestival, rather than chic as a band being exclusive.

I wouldn't take that as so certain. They'd (now) go down a storm on the Pyramid, and while I don't think that's massively likely, I don't think it can be 100% ruled-out on the basis you've said.

I'd go see them on the Pyramid. Missed them last year and some people I know said it was the highlight of their weekend so I'd be too curious to not go.

Maybe it's not about money and just a joy of performing.

For a guy with a career in the doldrums for a couple of decades (not to mention his health issues) it must be pretty life-affirming to see that people still care - and also to see younger people getting into it.

just as is currently happening with Prince, those younger people have had to be told that they like it.

If we go back a few years to when Chic played at Bestival in the mid/late-afternoon, it was (I've posted about this a fair bit) of absolutely no interest to the youngsters. They'd bounce up the stage to see what was happening, and within a minute they'd bounce off again. More surprising to me than that was that the 'Chic hits' were completely unknown to them.

It's rather amazing what a bit of Daft Punk hype can do.
