At one time or another in the past 20 years, ME has allegedly been unsuccessful in getting these acts as headliners

The Stone Roses

Red Hot Chilli Peppers

Zeppelin

Floyd

Madonna

He's a persistent bugger, so reckon they are all still on his radar to a degree (some less than others)?

Just as well I put 'allegedly' . Phew !

However the BBC seems to think they were down to headline in 93.

'Six main stage headline acts have pulled out in the festival's history - The Kinks (1970), Red Hot Chili Peppers (1993), The Stone Roses (1995) Stevie Winwood (1997), Kylie Minogue (2005) and U2 (2010).'

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-23048669

Four of these acts have subsequently appeared. Ray Davies in 2010 ; Steve Winwood in 2013; Kylie made an appearance with Scissor Sisters in 2011, and U2 headlined the same year. ME doesn't give the impression of closing the door on people.

For what its worth , I don't think they're Pyramid headline material these days, but not too shabby judging by last year's headline set at Coachella

I always wonder with bands like the chilli's, what happens to them when they decrease in popularity, but not so much that they accept anything other than a headline everywhere they go?

Do they just fade out when no one wants to book them anymore?

Kula shaker replaced Neil young.......I'm astonished. That's like somebody shitting in a carrier bag, handing it to you, and you giving them a £50 note in return

they get booked right at the last minute when all other options go to pot like they were for Coachella last year

be interesting to see if they headline a UK festival again. Reading and Leeds really does seem to have put a permanent black mark against their name. maybe come their next album people will be willing to forget

Good job it's wrong then eh? From me memory it was Steve Winwood who dropped out. Kula shaker were massively popular and played the other stage at the same time as radiohead so they played again the next night. A double kick in the balls for me who chose them over Radiohead the night before.

    • Totally agree about PinkPantheress stage choice. 'Luckily' for me, one of my main targets, fakemink, was absolutely awful, meaning that I left early and was in a surprisingly good spot at Cupra before it got totally packed.
    • As many said before, not my favourite Primavera. sh*tty weather is something I'm not really used to when enjoying music. Poor communication (more than 1 hour long radio silence during the worst rain) didn't help, but the main problem was me. I decided to leave the venue after things seemed to be getting back to normal. Massive Attack were supposed to play again (with Hymn of the Big Wheel back on the setlist!) as were all other artists on the smaller stages (including Fcukers with one my favourite albums of the year). FOMO was at an all-time high. However, after 4 hours in the rain, I had to admit to myself that I'm not cut out for this. I wasn't even that soaked (water-proof jacket worked). I was just fed up with the rain, wind and cold and wasn't able to enjoy music anymore.   Also, they should stop ignoring the growth of some artists between signing them up and their actual performance. Both PinkPantheress and Ninajirachi sets were ruined for me by completely inadequate stage choice.   However, I felt very much the same way after the 2022 edition and have thoroughly enjoyed all subsequent editions. So I'm still buying early bird tickets for 2027 and hoping this was a hiccup not the start of a downward trend.
    • I will definitely be buying a 2027 early bird pass, partially because of the priority reservation privileges for the Ciutat sets. Hopefully the organization will take action to improve upon this year's failings. Because I thought the free water options and sound quality were an improvement over last year, so clearly they can actually implement positive changes.   I also hope all the douchebag chompers get in the sea, cause I was more bothered by them than in the past few years.   Highlights: The Cure, Ninajirachi, Knocked Loose, Current 93, Blood Orange.
    • Similar feelings to a few others on here. Not my personal favourite edition but a long way from giving up on it. Felt overcrowded at times and there are just too many people there that don't seem to like music that much! Hardly went to main stages which was the plan. Highlights Ralphie Choo, rusowsky, Gorillaz, Geese, Gelli Haha, The Sophs, PinkPantheress, Dijon. Accommodation booked for next year. Thanks for your company and comments over the past year.
