"A band who will not look back on this record as a career high, but as the moment they stopped being defined by a genre and instead became (this bit is in italics) artists" - I am so done. Genuinely don't mind the NME, but this review is ridiculous.

NME's reviews:

Whatever... - 10/10

Favourite Worst Nightmare - 9/10

Humbug - 7/10

Suck It and See - 9/10

AM - 10/10

As you may see the album rating correlates with the band's 'hype' (for lack of a better word) at the time. Without the glittering reviews of the debut, their live performances, their singles, it'd be unlikely that there would have been a debut album or a career. Could anyone say that musically Whatever... was a perfect 10? Or was it moreso because of the 'hype' that had consumed the small band at the time? Not really a shocker now that they've weighted their review on the current popularity of the band, they've been doing it all along.

In the dustbin of humanity you will find Saul Milton and Will Kennard – two dullards guilty of producing the most offensive sub-music since Kosheen.

Making the kind of vacuous dumb’n’bass backdrops that have made Pendulum a band synonymous with shiteness, this London duo have enlisted a heap of likely goons (including Tempa T) and some shameful appearances from folk that should know better (Dizzee Rascal, Cee Lo Green), in a bid to cover up their electronic ineptitude.

Despite Cee Lo’s vocal guidance (‘Brixton Briefcase’), you almost black out from the terribleness before coming to and realising you’re too good for this soulless nonsense.

Not listened to AM yet for no other reasons than I've been very busy and can't be arsed. But for me best albums are:

SIAS

Whatever...

Humbug

FWN

FWN is poor IMO only decent tracks if you were there beware, house is a circus, old yellow bricks , brianstorm,do me a favour and none are great apart from brianstorm. SIAS is a great album

Fluorescent adolescent is by far the worst song they've released and one of the worst they've ever created. All IMO of course. And it's the worst album by a mile for me. However SIAS gets slated on here and that's my favourite so... I've got a few days off now so should be able to listen to AM

    • Consider that the sound quality can be better near the front bars right behind the soundbooth rather than closer to the stage, like with mbv. And of course, the front sections are full of talkers too.   The most courteous move would be to have conversations in the very back of the field.
    • I mean...I do think it all needs more regulation, but god knows how when it's all so global...but there's so much stuff on there that is messing with our little minds. But also, he has given these companies till September, and well...he'll surely be gone by then. I think social media ban for under 16s will likely happen, but I think regulating it for everyone is better. It's the not the kids we should be worried about, it's all those middle aged doom scrolling keyboard warriors like me.
    • I agree the prices are tough for locals. You can see if Porto timetable is the type that works for you and it's a terrific city. Also cheaper. https://www.primaverasound.com/es/porto/lineup-porto
    • thanks XXialac! i guess for us the most important aspect will be a festival that starts very late in the day, specially in these southern countries were it can be really hot! The combination of visiting a new city, having good lunches and enjoying a festival is a absolute must for us. Also, we like headliners but the undercard is just as important; truly enjoyed Men I trust, NewDad, Big Thief this year so from that angle it is not really a big thing if a festival is somewhat smaller.    Apparently my bad, i had 5 in my system but 0.5 (10%) increase is still huge. I am not sure how teenagers can afford these prices............
