Thats was them at there very best... At Hurricane last week they were poor and boring tbh and i had reports they were similar at other festivals in the past

If they play Glasto level then brilliant for R&L... If hurricane level it will be a bang average headliner

yes but if that's the reason why, then there's no reason for any other festival to book them off that performance

Just stop it with all this booking off of a performance nonsense. It's just not applicable to acts that have already headlined the fest . As I said, I don't think they will play, but if they do it certainly won't have anything to do with how they go down at glasto.

I'd say Metallica's booking is the most special reason out of all three of this years headliners though; they've always wanted to do it, first heavy rock band to play and they're one of the biggest british bands of all time.

They aren't British?

Who do we think other festivals will be trying to get?

Glastonbury: Fleetwood Mac, Coldplay, Radiohead

Isle of Wight: QOTSA, Arcade Fire

Bestival: Calvin Harris, Jay Z?? + ??

T in the Park: Green Day, Mumford & Sons, Red Hot Chili Peppers

V Festival: Jay Z, Mumford & Sons

Sonisphere: Black Sabbath, Foo Fighters, Muse

Download: Biffy, Tool, G&R

This is clearly all wrong (i dont even know what half of these festivals look to book anyway) but just getting the ball rolling

I'm sure you said something similar about Blink-182 this year ;)

True but that was because I didn't think they'd do something as ridiculous as book someone to headline twice in four years.

Slipknot is different reasoning- they're not quite big enough to headline in terms of the demographic, could probably sub but would definitely get a better offer from both Download and Sonisphere
