Have RHCP been before, are they actually that likely, if they went I would go to R&L regardless of the rest of the line up?

They headlined in 94, 99 and 2007. 07 was a notoriously shit performance apparently so many think Festival Republic won't take the risk again, but their live performance has vastly improved since then by all accounts (they were brilliant in 2011). It depends on how the new album is progressing really.

Doesn't really matter though. Almost entirely new population at the festivals that won't know anything about their apparent horrorshow last time that will want to see them. They sold a fuck load of tickets to IOW - which acts haven't been able to do for a while - and should have a new album out next year. I think R+L would be wise to consider them.

Edit: What raw said.

Weren't Blink also notoriously shit in '10 though? Maybe they thrive on taking chances like that.

Nobody has ever been so panned on such a widespread level as RHCP. Apart from maybe the Roses. FR praised Blink after their set, they actually admitted the mistake in booking RHCP. When a festival promoter admits one of their headliners was a mistake you know it must've been bad.

Yeah true, bad reps will have a finite lifespan. If the band can outlast them and maintain popularity I'm sure they could be reconsidered at some point.
