Lineup 2015

Recommended Posts

Honestly, after seeing him barely able to stand with Babyshambles last year, I never expected him to be as good as he was last night. The whole band sounded really tight. They came on at about 9:15pm, after showing a 10 minute film about them. I left after What a Waster which was their second to last song and that was about 10.45pm.

why did you leave?

Good to be back fellas - now you laugh at mumford headlining but they are one headlining status so therefore it would come down to whether reading would want them. They played a very successful slot in2010 and go and listen The Cave from that slot and you will see they went down very very well. So why couldn't they headline?? The reading crowd would love them and what I mean about organising the album is that they are on hiatus but they will want to have the album ready if not released by the time reading comes around I.e. They won't want to come and do the slot or any festivals next summer unless they have new material.

These forums are full of you lot who talk all year about having all these legendary bands like the libertines etc but in reality a booking like that rarely happens - we might as well have an educated discussion about what could happen instead of his idealistic nonsense

The Reading crowd wouldn't love them. Quite like why Coldplay are never booked. They'd need to be already working on a new album if they're doing anything next year - don't really know if they are or not.

The Libertines? The only festival they've played in ten years has been R+L.

When was the last time something like The Killers, Mumford & Sons and Chase & Status were the headliners at R&L like you're suggesting?

You also said the same thing would happen for 2014 and looked at the line up, no where near that

they're not doing too badly... they definitely aren't The Killers / Kasabian / Kings Of Leon at V Festival (yet), anyway. but headlining again next year would definitely push them there and be a very uninspired booking (although a big ticket seller, and i doubt many would complain)

Pretty sure Kasabian have only headlined V once. Just saying.

I think you'll be surprised with what Mumford come back with by the end of their last tour and campaign they were fed up with becoming too big etc - I think they'll come back with something interesting and I'd for one love to see them headline the festival

Yes they would it's full of teenagers who love this type so music - I saw mumford live twice last summer and it was full of a lot of teenagers.

They actually played BST Hyde Park which is a certified festival

Never mentioned The Killers, Chase and Status sub headlined 2013?? And mumford are headliner status - what I mean is you guys are all discussing these massive headliners full of legends whereas in reality most headliners will be touring acts - also remember the reason touring acts are playing is because teenagers are buying their records - look at arctic monkeys Ffs

Certified by who?

So The Libertines aren't gonna play because they're too legendary and not touring but Mumfords will because they are touring and teenagers are buying their records?

Reading is dominated by teenagers so yeh and I was using libertines as an example of a band who are legends now and therefore are less likely to play - remember this is a forum of who reading will choose not who do we think should play

Was just using a 3rd headliner that you kept mentioning last year (and are also popular with the kids) and just because you sub headlined doesn't mean that you'll be a headliner for that festival when you're bigger. Also I never disputed the fact that Mumford aren't headliners, it was just that R&L would never book a headliner set like that. Also we know most headliners are touring acts and most suggestions have been bands are still touring acts e.g. RHCP, The Prodigy etc.

Also The Libertines are pretty popular with R&L demographic and would be a pretty popular booking so you're just kidding yourself

    • We head out in the morning. Couple of nights in New York then up to Boston. Enjoy the games lads and hopefully we get some great football to take our minds off the whole shitshow off the pitch.
    • White Stripes/QotSA at Harewood 2007, Tramlines (and Blue Dot, same weekend) in '23, and Elbow at Jodrell Bank '13.
    • Yeah exactly, the shock moments, group layouts, etc all end up playing out differently once you get into the tournament. However you tweak it, you don't predict shocks.
