Why are so many people predicting The Prodigy for next year? (Asking this from pure ignorance)

Would of headlined download, Soni, and cream fields, Melvin Benn raves (literally) about the dance future. Possibly biggest uk dance act, will have a new album.

Those are the reasons I think. Nothing set in stone but it's a fairly reasonable guess.

They won't play reading, every year they've been "likely" they've never done it

no point in getting your hopes up, they'l get snatched somewhere on exclusive!

What a load of shit. Why wouldn't The Prodigy play? They're only headlining places now and they'll finally have a new album out with songs on the charts. Perfect time for them to headline again really.

I doubt anyone has hopes up anyway. If anybody really wanted to see them they'd go to the dozens of other shows. It's just a predictable booking.

Royal Blood are more deserving than Enter Shikari. Their two singles are better than Enter Shikari's entire discography.

Agreed.

Prodigy

Fall Out Boy

Royal Blood

Red Hot Chili Peppers

Bastille

Gaslight Anthem

Florence and the Machine

Two Door Cinema Club

Chvrches

My guess

My crystal ball reckons they won't be there next year. Not in that much of a high slot which is surely more deserving to (pick random FR band here). Royal Blood probably.

They definitely will have a new album out by then but I think Download will want them on the main stage but Shikari love R&L and they could play NME (would probably headliners)

Probably loads that are/will be too big for their slots by next year, but...

I reckon if and when C and S play next they'll co-headline, as Melvin seems to like the concept of Paramore and QOTSA doing it this year I couldn't really see them subbing Metallica. I like the early start with fake posters, always great fun.

Could you post up a blank template if poss. as I feel in the mood to make one to clear my anguish for the Macklemore booking.

Although I think that royal blood are pretty awesome I don‘t think they are capable to do anything more than five down on the mainstays. Possibly four down after some more materail.

Reading jumps on hype trains. Their album will be out later this year. It's kind of a piss take guess as I bumped up people that look stupid there at the moment, but This years top 3 woulda looked stupid this time last year

    • Its just going to be another dementia tax isn't it? The issue is this is going to be seen as a continuation of the labour government that have already raised taxes 1000% above manifesto promises.
    • One thing that Burnham has been talking about is scrapping inheritance tax and replace it with a social care levy ... which would be less progressive, but might be a good idea if was a solution for the social care crisis. Would need to sell it well to a public who would prefer not to pay more tax.
    • Maybe you should put your name forward to be Burnham's chancellor.
    • But I think the point of that Dan Needle tax thing...we need to put up income tax, for all incomes (and thresholds should be unfrozen).
    • There are no easy answers...more than anything we need growth...and probably main ways of getting that is borrowing more to invest in stuff that makes us super sexy, and/or cut taxes on business and wealth generation which would mean less money to spend on public services and welfare and would obviously be super unpopular and get you chucked out of govt. On top of all that got an aging population, a growing welfare bill, a call for higher spending on defence, housing inequality, higher borrowing costs, and probably a load more sh*t on the way due to the Iran war (although so far it hasn't been that bad?)
