Friends went to IoW and said the gig went well, but they're fans anyway. I've seen them 20+ times and have never seen a bad show, any I've not enjoyed have been because I was not in the right frame of mind to enjoy them, it happens. 2 hours of Pearl Jam on the Pyramid would be amazing for me, but my hope for their next tour is a return to this place:

wheres that old son ?? and 20 times im jealous lol

i find it hard to believe that people can say they will do a perfectly adequate job.

this band has been around for 20 odd years they where at the beginning of a sound of music that is still making waves today [ yes grunge if you have to label it ] when you are quite happy to have mumfords who have only released 2 sodding ablums .......i DO believe no matter the head liner they should at least have a good back log of songs .

pearl jam have 20 years 10 albums plus others ie lost dogs ect and could do 2 hours and only use a small amount of that back log where as mumfords ...........................well they would just play there album lol

so i think any show would be a bit more that adequate IMO .

peace and cider its grandaughter time :beach:

I don't think you need a number 1 single to be a Glastonbury headliner... Hell, aren't Depeche Mode lined up? Don't think they've had a number 1 single in the UK to my knowledge, though they have had more success on the album front. I think Pearl Jam command a lot of respect, they sell arenas, and they could be a great future headliner for Glasto.

future headliners!! they had their day 20 years ago. Same with depeche mode.

Let's look forward rather than back.

Mumfords are a horrible band, but I'd rather see them headlining than these hasbeens. Or turds like the vaccines or florence and the machine. Surely times arent so desperate we have to take bands from a different era, and who were mediocre even in their prime

well i cant see PJ playing next year unless they announce UK tour dates which so far hasn't happened but im more than happy that Fleetwood Mac are a pretty strong cos they are imo wot i like in a headline band [as Zero said] good long history and a wopping great back log .

but im still hoping for a PJ euro tour lol :beach:

I can't work out if you people are doing a bit with all this anti-grunge malarkey, specifically the Nirvana statements, is it "oh let's say that stuff that's actually really good is only okay in this kind of sarcastic manner to be all witty like"? If so I'd like to join in on the cool-kid game with; Oh, yeah, well In Utero is okay and stuff, but it's not like, this really abrasive and harrowing yet nearly uncomfortably personal sound of what happens when a tortured man who was close to his own self-inflicted death basically bounces all his messed up feelings around a recording studio, it's not like a unique guttural scream that you just don't hear in any other music. It's only alright, you know, to bop your head to if you don't want something too heavy.

*crosses fingers that I have ballsed up like I did on that car game*

You can still get Nirvana t-shirts in fucking Top Shop alongside the Stones, Kasabian and Ramones ones though so there must be some awareness of them in the mainstream. Still hear Nirvana on XFM from time to time as well so I'd image todays youth are more aware of them than other 'grunge' bands.

Probably helps that their drummer is one of the most universally liked frontmen and is in a mainstream-friendly enormo-rock band as well.

Although I agree with your other points, I think this one is moot. The Ramones t shirts are worn by people unaware that they were a band - as are some of the Stones' lips t shirts worn by people who are unaware that the logo is that of the Stones.

Maybe people are wearing the Nirvana t shirts cos they like the smiley face.

    • The Great Fete Festival (Sunday Only) Ocean Colour Scene day on Tickets For Good.
    • I was also at Ghost but seated. When they scanned my ticket's and they came up as seated they printed a small ticket with the seat number info.
    • I was standing for Ghost at O2 London last year where they put the phone in a pouch beforehand so I assume they're is a mechanism in place for people in seats.
    • Most likely not, keeping an eye on Tixel and Twickets might be the best option.
