People without wristbands / overcrowding

On Saturday night we got chatting to a couple at Arcadia, they said that they'd paid a dodgy "firm" £250 to get them in to the festival, neither of them had wristbands on. They reckoned they were shipped in on a bus with 28 others and that there were up to 10 of these buses an hour bringing people in illegally.

Not sure if they overstated the scale of it, but It seemed a lot more crowded this year and we heard of a lot more people getting their tents robbed (both of us had commented on this before chatting to the couple). If there was that kind of operation going on, it would have explained things..

Anyone else think it was more crowded than previously (not including 2000 though)?

Wednesday seemed massively more busy than Wed in 2011, it felt like pretty much most people had arrived. I took photos of the other and pyramid fields and compared them against similar photos taken about the same time in 2011 and there is a huge difference in numbers

We chatted loads of times about how it felt more crowded this year than in the previous two. We kept wondering what amazing (or very popular) band we had just missed only to realise that the timing didn't work for it being due to people leaving a stage.

Much more crowded around the main venues, I was a bit stunned at how dense some of the crowds were - clearest on the Other stage which was rammed to the back more often than I've seen in ten years of going

Busiest I've seen it on a Wednesday since I first went five years ago but then that is to be expected when people can get another day out of it.

Other than that I didn't think it was that bad moving about. Agreed about the Other Stage though, it was constantly full each time I walked by.

However stone circle, was absolutely dead on Thursday night. Wasn't as full as previous years (if my drunk brain remembers rightly) at 7am on the Friday.

Arrived at 10am wednesday and Park Home Ground where I normally camp was packed full, so much so we moved on to Dairy Ground. I realize these are popular areas but the 2 previous times I've been, I've easily found decent spaces there, despite arriving at 3pm (2011) and 7pm (2009).

And the person who said about Stone Circle being quiet, went up at about 2.30 on saturday night and there was almost no one there. Barely stayed 10 minutes because nothing was happening, and noone was there. Every other time I've ever been up, especially any time from 9pm-6am it's been jam packed.

I noticed a fella with no wristband on whilst drinking around the cider bus. Piqued my interest but he didn't look like the type to be jumping any fences.

clearly there was something up as Sunday morning the wristband checking to leave and return to the site was very strict on gate D. Stewards told us that there were fake wristbands going round and people without wristbands.

Oxfam had handed over to security by 815pm on Sunday evening at Gate C, no handing back of passout, cursory wave in the air of arm to get in. If I lived locally I would definitely chance it another time around, book the Monday off and see the headliners and party the whole night.

I saw a guy getting pinned down quite violently by a security bloke on Saturday night, radioed for "back up" to have the guy removed for not having a wrist band. He seemed co-operative and certainly wasn't resisting. Security bloke definitely seemed a jobsworth but I suppose it's fair enough.
