I had a complete bunch of dicks behind me for the monkeys. I did end up telling them to pack it in an then moved forward a few rows which did the trick.

Then on sunday after watching phoenix some idiot in a complete rush decided his direct route was far more important than mine and walked directly into me face to face. I could see it coming and moved one way but he moved into me. People need to chill out and relax.

Apart from that we had a great time. A neighbor gave us some free cans he didn't want and someone else gave us some they didn't want during the stones.

There are idiots at every single festival and out of all of them I've been to Glastonbury seems to have about the least.

Expect a few annoying people and ignore them, and appreciate the people who aren't twats, I'm sure everyone will have a much better time that way.

I think people forget it looks a hell of a lot worse on a sunny year than a wet one litter wise. I didn't think it was any worse than usual and I reckon paper cup levels and hedge peeing levels are directly related. Not that it excuses it, but still.

Precisely.

I thought it was a good crowd this year. Personally I don't do all the class A drugs and such that some people do that turns them into the people are when on them, but at the same time I don't let the fact that they are enjoying a different festival to me bother me.

I didn't twig that that was the issue. It never crossed my mind someone would go to glastonbury and take coke.

It all makes sense now. I've abandoned clubs and never gone back on basis of crowd being on coke, I hate it. That's just me, my issue, I'll take my ass to Arcadia and Beat Hotel and shake it there instead.

Funny that people are commenting on the peeing thing as the main big festival I've attended in the past is T in the Park where people just piss all over the place. Every wall and fence is fair game, in fact I've even seen a guy do it in the middle of the field with no discretion whatsoever. And it's not just the men who publicly pee. I've also shouted at guys for pissing near my tent. They were camped close by and while the didn't pee near my tent again they simply moved their 'toilet' to another area.

At Glastonbury I only saw one guy peeing next to a fence beside The Park, which was particularly annoying as he was about a minute's walk from the toilets (and I told him so).

The litter thing drives me mad, not so much beside the stages where I accept it's a pain to have to hang onto your cans for an hour or two until you're close to a bin, but there is no reason or excuse to leave plates and cups on a table and walk off when there are always bins only a few metres away.

Bunch of moaning b@stards on here. Noticed that it the build up theres almost a 'Ive been going for 15 years' superiority about some people and they seem to be gathering in this thread. So what if someone sits doen in the build up to the band. I get a bad back so have to do this between bands, I generally get there early and find a decent open space usually well away from the front and sit take the weight off. What pisses me off is people turning up just before the band trying to get closer to the stage trying to step over me when Im chilling out. There has ALWAYS been a load of rubbish at the end of the night, thats why a team of volunteers get a free ticket for going collecting it all before the next day, why would that ruin your festval. Stop worring about other people and try and have agood time, if not dont go and someone more deserving will take it.

Can't say that all the idiots at the Stones were kids. Some older blokes were pushing their way through, giving it 'I like them more than you because I'm older' sort of thing, before taking pictures on their phones and going onto Facebook during the set. I've just come to accept that the Pyramid can and does attract idiots of all ages.

Whilst there is a small minority who act poorly, there are a massive amount of great, interesting and helpful people around the site. Litter is a massive problem though, maybe offer some kind of incentive for those who pick up their own crap and hand it in at designated litter points or something. Would save money!

I was at Michael's Q&A on Sunday morning and someone asked about this - he said they had people doing the same role who weren't the Green Police (he didn't elaborate on who they were, though). He also said the Environment were testing the Whitelake every two hours to check for pollution levels.

It's a scary amount of money isn't it? It could pay for so many better things than collecting litter, whether that's fees for acts on stage or a larger donation to the festival's good causes.

Along with beards and tattoos, Glastonbury is all the rage at the moment. No idea if that has any bearing on the number of jerks, but there seemed to be many more than I experianced at previous glastonburys. Luckily, they all seemed squeezed into the Silver Hayes/Arcadia area. I ended up spending my spare time in the Fields of Avalon and Greenfields area. People seemed much nicer there.

I think you'll find beards and tattoos have been around for a very, very long time. Have you been living under a rock. TBH I saw fellas pissing and told one he should have his cock cut off, toilets are everywhere, no excuse for it at all. Hate littering at Glasto as well, bins everywhere, have some respect for what The Eavis' do for us, they are true heroes.

I thought most of the jerks were of the posh 'harmless' type rather than the nasty 'look like they'll do you over if you look at them the wrong way' type jerks but yes, lots of jerks!

So many people go to Glastonbury now that have no idea what the festival is about. When the screens showed a message from Michael and Emily last night some young air head next to me said 'who are Michael and Emily'? She was harmless enough and pretty as a picture with flowers in her hair and cute little cut-offs but it's seriously making me wonder if that's just how it is now and it may be time to look elsewhere if a different, more thoughtful vibe is what I'm after.

My first Glasto was only 2009 by the way so I'm no veteran but even in that time it's changed so god knows what actual veterans make of it all.

Great atmosphere like normal for me.

Only bad incident was some obnoxious lout of a woman who was giving my brother and I shit for refusing to piss against the fence, instead of queueing for the long drops in front of her.

I love how because it's Glastonbury we're not allowed to point out any negatives! If someone pisses anywhere other than a toilet, they're being a dick.

If someone takes a shit somewhere other than a toilet, they're being a dick.

If someone barges you out of the way so they can get nearer the stage, they're being a dick.

If someone drops litter, they're being a dick.

If someone talks loudly during a performance you're trying to enjoy, they're being a dick.

If someone leaves their tent behind, they're being a dick.

It doesn't matter whether these things are to be expected or whether they happen at every festival, gig or large gathering of people, the fact is they happen at Glastonbury and we should moan about it. We should make a stand where we can. We should try and make it a better place than it is already. We should try and encourage people not to be dicks...

And saying littering doesn't matter because the festival pay people to clear it up? Seriously, stop being a dick!!

We waited around after Portishead for the Arcadia show and got a really good spot next to the speakers under one of the legs, with about 20 mins to it starting we had had enough and moved back as we were being barged about too much.

We overheard a posh talking couple say "did you see that couple they looked absolutely ancient",they were only early 60's. I stood thinking to myself that the pair of them will be lucky to see 60,with all the mcat they were talking about taking.

I would say also that there did seem to be a lot more rubbish in the East camper field,a tent left at the side of us(which i took down and brought home) tables and chairs, water roller, solar showers still hung up.(shame we didn't have more room otherwise i would take more home with me)

I did notice a lot more of the "prove I was there" people, taking photos of themselves at gigs (this having to push people out of the way so their mate can get themselves and the stage in a snapshot) crowd but I think that's representative of society more than anything. Lots more people on their mobiles generally. And a lot more chatter during gigs - again, something I've noticed at other gigs a lot recently so not just restricted to Glastonbury.

I have seen much of the behaviour described in these posts ever since I started going in 1979. I think it is the luck of the draw to some extent - I found this to be the most relaxed and best spirited Glasto ever and put it down as my best - and just when I was thinking that it was time to pack it in too.

I didnt see anything of the like being mentioned here , one man was getting a bit fruity with my wife and sister in law so i had a word with him..........maybe this is your problem, if you feel so strongly about these things then man up & make your feelings known instead of saving them and moaning on internet forums the week after.

    • If you didn't see melt banana at Apolo. Go see them at the festival. Insane.
    • Interesting, and thanks for coming back to give an update! I've seen that the second stage looks bigger than usual too, looks to be a Serious Stages - Stellar Stage from distance photos.    Seems like sizing wise stages have been scaled up somewhat this year.
    • I see its cancelled now but they did leave it really late to announce plus they are up against Kelburn Garden Party Festival not to far from the festival site.
