2014 Headliner predictions

it's bollocks is that you "predicted it". You guessed at every possible headline act in the world, and couldn't 9n all reasonableness fail to get some of those guesses right.I predict that every headliner of every festival over 15,000 capacity will be headlined next year by one of the 50,000 bands in the efestivals performers database.Do I get a prize for my correct predictions, or am I gazza?

I have to wonder about Depeche Mode headlining Glasto a year after it would have helped the most (when they had a new album and tour to promote).

Also, didn't they turn town 2009 because they didn't fancy the rest of the lineup? Fuck them.

Did Gazza admit he is thewayiam? (or vice versa?) If so, that ruins the game a little bit, his insistence against the obvious was half the fun.

To be fair Neil, seems to me that's what you do every year. You often have "sources" who just seem to echo rumours that are already out there. Educated guessing

If it was only educated guessing, efestivals would be as poor at getting it right as every other website out there which also publishes rumours. Or as poor as gazza.

So either your opinion that it's "educated guesses" gets to mean that I'm more educated than anyone else running a website, or it's not educated guesses. :)

In all seriousness, it's fairly unlikely that anything I get info about from my sources isn't already going to be out there as a rumour - because there's always a greater number of rumours for who will headline than there are headliners.

But again in all seriousness, the efestivals record of getting these things right - as well as it being an almost never-happens that we stake ourselves on a band that turns out to be wrong (compare and contrast with other sites!) - should be telling you that it's far more than merely educated guesses.

the only time I'm aware of them having turned it down (can't remember the year, but 2009 sounds about right) was a year when they already had dates lined up for the same weekend (in Paris, if my memory isn't playing tricks), and they weren't able to fit it in around those other dates.

So we have our fabled fourth headliner!

Do I win a prize? :P

Only a prize for being shit at dot-to-dot puzzles. :P

They don't actually fit within what I've said, because they already long-before had a date in Paris announced for the Saturday (the 4th headliner would have played Saturday).

So they were never available to be that 4th headliner.

he also ignores a lot of other stuff from posts that he prefers not to listen to or acknowledge.

When it's you, making five differing predictions - actually guesses! Not from any actual knowledge - then why do you think I should take any notice of any one of them? Yes, one of them might well be right, but as you can't identify which one, how do you think I could?

And yes, I'm well aware that people often post on here "I know that XYZ is playing" and they REALLY do know that as a fact for substantive reasons. But the problem with those is that there's also people making similar posts when they don't know jack shit. Again, it's not possible to identify the right from the wrong.

If anyone knows something and they want me to take them seriously about it then they need to email me about it, and engage with me over it - and it's very likely that I'll know for certain whether their information is accurate or not within a short amount of time.

As it happens, I do also take some posts on here seriously - but always for good reason. And the machine-gunning of every possible name that you do is something that I'll never take seriously, and you're a brainless idiot if you think anyone else here will too.

    • f**king horrendous and seems they couldn’t run an egg and spoon race.  zero info and the crush waiting to get in to see Massive Attack was potentially disasterous. Zero info, no stewards at all and was told that the whole evening was cancelled, when we got to the exit. Because it rained. First time attendee and i’ve got onsay, i’m far from impressed. Scalping bastard taxis asking €37 plus for an €11 fare too. Wonderdul.
    • Rumours are it's called The Lost Tour. In the US in September. Ireland in November (so UK+Europe a good bet around November/early December).
    • Hey guys, is there a group going for any solo y not goers this year?? I couldn’t miss out once I saw the acts but it’s just me and would be great to meet some others:))
    • After deciding to abandon the festival, here's a few of my thoughts (mostly negative tbf).    On the positive side - was it just me or were there a few more urinals than last year? Seemed to help the queues at the loos a bit from what i saw. Plus they had at least had some foresight and had a few more covered areas in the VIP areas.    Now on the negatives.  The weather was admittedly pretty crap but it wasn't apocalyptic. How the actual f**k are bits of the main stage falling off in those conditions?  Then the communication was awful, there's a load of people who left the site because they were told by security guards/other personnel that there would be no more acts on the main stage this evening.  You have an app Primavera, use it! Yes, there's a shitload going on I'm sure but communication with the festivalgoers should be one of the top priorities. You failed.    And I'm not usually somebody who buys into the whole "oh this is hugely unsafe and it's lucky people weren't hurt" narrative, but all the above led to movements of people that were genuinely unsafe.  Evacuating Mordor entirely (again... Why???) and then having a horde of people trying to get in because they thought they were going to Massive Attack was insane.  And given a lot of people basically abandoned ship around 10.30pm the crush at both the exit to the festival and the entrance to the Metro was pretty dangerous.   Conditions happen, most people will get that....but the contingencies have to be better.
    • You'd think that something like bad weather was in the basics of festival planning. After the shitshow of Madrid, you'd think they'd learnt their lesson, apparently not...
