Worthy FM

Sorry if there is already a thread on this, but I went on the Worthy FM website this morning and noticed that they have updated their schedule for this year. Looks like they're gonna broadcast on Monday and Tuesday, and personally I will be listening to it obsessively on Monday and Tuesday to get the excitement levels going!

Here's the schedule: http://www.worthyfm.com/worthy-fm-schedule-for-glastonbury-festival/

Even though it can be a bit of a shambles at times (all part of the charm I suppose) it's still brilliant to listen to in the build up of the festival! Looks like they've got some good stuff on this year too! :D

Good spot!

To be honest, we try not to sound too commercial and professional if we can. We're here enjoying the festival with the rest of you, so don't want to sound like some commercial station out in the real world. Keeping a station running 24/7 from the middle of a farm presents it's challenges too!

Worth saying we've got a second studio in a public area on the edge of the glade in Arcadia this year, that's deliberately broadcasting from a public area so you lovely people can come and say hello on air too. I'm sitting in it now, and it's going to be ace. Do stop by!

I loved it last time I went. Totally disorganised and bearing in mind the main purpose of listening was to pick up useful snipets, they had very little information about what was going on. The best was a reggae DJ who had no idea at all about anything to do with the festival but was interesting to listen to and played some really good reggae tracks.

We've actually got a map of how far our fm signal *should* reach around the site, which we'll blog in the next couple of days. Can vary depending on different conditions. We've got what's called an RSL license, which puts restrictions on how powerful our transmitter can be and so restricts the range a bit. For fun we mapped out how far we'd reach if we broadcast from that big transmitter on the hill near wells, and you'd be hearing us well up into the welsh valleys and down in Devon then. Sadly it will never happen.

You can listen in the car on a smartphone anywhere though, the listen live link will go up on the website on Monday morning.

As for totally disorganised, I'd definitely dispute the word totally :-p Daddy Teacha's the reggae DJ you mention, he's been doing his radio show from The festival since the 1980's, and is one of the nicest men you could meet. He's going to be covering the new reggae venue down in silver Hayes this year, fair to say he 's a bit excited about it!

Will Worthy Fm be playing The King Has Lost His Hat by The Mandrake Project, at least once a day every day all weeknd? At first I (and those camped with me) thought I was going mental but when I got home I kind of missed that very odd song. If you're not planning on playing it at regular intervals could you play it once for me?

Hah, yeah, sometimes tracks get stuck on loop as each presenter wants to play it and doesn't realise everyone else has. Tracks by the stones are the big risk for that this year, so we're going to be logging each track played, then go over the logs a few times per day to make sure we don't end up with any one track on loop.

As for playing it again, I doubt we've got it anywhere on the computer. Was it 2008 or so?

Taking a little wind-up radio every year is a must so we can tune into Worthy FM every morning and whenever we nip back to the tent. It definitely helped us to keep sane in 2007 when we were preparing to venture out into the rain each day!

Well worth taking an small FM radio - its a life saver for mornings and evenings and also you will get updates on changes to line ups, TBA bands, special guests whats going on before you get to site re: full campsites etc..

I never go to Glastonbury without my radio, many years i have found out who where going to be the guest acts up at the park stage because of listening. Keep it going Worthy FM!

    • Another Kraftwerk one for me today, as just back from seeing them.
    • Completed my 2026 survey. Put down Super Furry Animals as my most wanted for next year but suspect the moment has gone for that. Popped a big shopping list in the box for who else you would like to see. 🙂
    • Blink-182 / Avril Lavigne / Good Charlotte / Neck Deep    Lamb of God / Malevolence      System Of A Down / Five Finger Death Punch / Skindred / Godsmack   Motionless In White / Poppy      Deftones / Gojira / Knocked Loose / President    Sabaton / Amon Amarth
