Laura Mvula, Clean Bandit and London Grammar announced for Bestival yesterday - possibles for V?

Would like to see Laura Mvula again, she was one of my highlights last year. Seeing Clean Bandit in May already and at Wireless so not fussed about them but they'd suit V's 'one song booking' mantra (despite how Mozart's House is still a far better song than Rather Be but anyway). London Grammar I'd have thought would be one of R&L's 'trendy' acts this year, coming to V next year when nobody cares anymore, but as they haven't been announced there yet there's a possibility not.

Mozarts house was beautiful when they supported basement jaxx.

All London Grammar's songs do seem a bit slow. Don't really fit into V's party spirit so would be no real loss to V if they weren't there. Think Nina Nesbitt is a V certainty if she's around this summer. OMAM were one of the ones R&L-goers were up in arms about not getting last year, along with Everything Everything, Eels and Two Door. Almost certain all of those four will be at R&L this time.

Gabrielle Aplins songs are pretty slow but she was at V last year. London Grammar have a good chance I think. I doubt r&l will get TDCC as they are exclusive to headlining latitude I believe. But eels and everything everything could go there and I wouldn't complain

If dappy is in prison that keeps him away from V so I don't mind that either. If he is in prison over the summer he must be going in later in the summer after IOW

Really? TDCC are a festival exclusive somewhere? That's surprising, thought they'd be quite in demand, guess it kind of fits into what they were saying last summer about hating festivals though so they'd be up for it..

I'd like to see Everything Everything again but yeah didn't get much of a crowd, people kind of took them as a chance to have lunch between Laura Mvula and McFly.

Would be, 'tis a beautiful piece of music !!

Yeah they are maybe in demand so they thought they could get more being exclusive than multiple fests, or of they dont like doing fests then thats another reason to go be an exclusive somewhere.

The V 2014 press release says....

Last year’s V Festival saw 340,000 fans descend on the two festival sites...

It would be rude of me to call the press office purveyors of untruths for sending that out, so instead I'll presume that they're being truthful, which means .... it's a festival that's not good enough for anyone to want to go for both days. :P

Really? The people I spoke to who went were :P In fact my then girlfriend specifically went to V as well as Reading because of Two Door's Reading absence :P

Im sure I saw people saying it was a bad thing TDCC and OMAM were at V and not R&L, but perhaps they didnt exist. I wanted to see both of them and got to see a small section of OMAM due to them clashing and my girlfriend wanting a drink. Oh well always another year due to V doing repeat bookings ;)

Hope its not rebranded to just pop what I love about V is its versatility there is a group of about 8 couples of us that go year in year out most of the lads are more into your band type so for example last year whilst the girls watched Beyonce and The Script we watched OCS and the Courteeners. The Calvin Harris's etc we all watch together as we all enjoy that kind of music and the afternoon chill outs listening to travis and deacon blue etc...

I think it will alienate a lot of my age group the older 30's if it is rebranded

That pretty much sums up my take on V as well, I go with the wife, daughter and her mate, plenty for all of us. Except for me it's the over 50's not older 30's

I honestly think R&L could take some of the v crowd with arctic monkeys, jake bugg, the Courteeners, disclosure, netsky, the 1975 ect...I know a few people who go to v every year but are dead set on going to leeds this year.

I am interested to see what v announce, they might have something up their sleave

I cant really see V being too imaginative. They cant get Biffy or RHCP and wouldnt have KOL and obviously cant have any of the R&L Headliners. That rules out most of the headliners already doing somewhere. They cant have Kanye (but neither can R&L) so I think V will go same with acts they know have a bit of pull with the newer V goers like Kasabian or Killers and a pop act, or Calvin Harris on main to end the night.

Has anyone heard anything about Killers not wanting to do festivals this year? I dont think I have seen them announced for anywhere so V could have them exclusive maybe? And Kasabian to close Glasto

Killers are on hiatus.

seems certain that Jay Z and Timberlake are the headliners.

Fair enough. Guess we will see on the 3rd of March who V have. If V have them 2, I wouldnt be surprised if Jay Z headlines saturday at Hylands and JT and Calvin Harris co-headline the sunday, ending the weekend with a light show. Thats the only way I would stick around to watch JT I think. Alot of people will say V has gone down alot for having 2 pop headliners but Calvin did pull a bigger crowd than KOL last year, so people that already like V like pop more than a band

    • TOP 10 acts (top 5 in bold😞   Blood Orange (ciutat)   Guitarricadelafuente   Oklou - Looks like I'm capable of enjoying music in the rain after all, just not the whole night.   Rilo Kiley   The Cure   Jade   Depresión Sonora   Gelli Haha (Parc del Forum) - Her music never really clicked with me. Until I saw her live.   MARINA   Six Sex (ciutat) - I was shocked how supersmall the venue was and that almost everyone (except for me) knew every word of every song (including the ones that were released this weekend!).   Honorable mention:   Ashnikko - missed the first 15 minutes (because of Gelli Haha) and I'm not really a fan of her music, but the show was an absolute blast.
    • Totally agree about PinkPantheress stage choice. 'Luckily' for me, one of my main targets, fakemink, was absolutely awful, meaning that I left early and was in a surprisingly good spot at Cupra before it got totally packed.
    • As many said before, not my favourite Primavera. sh*tty weather is something I'm not really used to when enjoying music. Poor communication (more than 1 hour long radio silence during the worst rain) didn't help, but the main problem was me. I decided to leave the venue after things seemed to be getting back to normal. Massive Attack were supposed to play again (with Hymn of the Big Wheel back on the setlist!) as were all other artists on the smaller stages (including Fcukers with one my favourite albums of the year). FOMO was at an all-time high. However, after 4 hours in the rain, I had to admit to myself that I'm not cut out for this. I wasn't even that soaked (water-proof jacket worked). I was just fed up with the rain, wind and cold and wasn't able to enjoy music anymore.   Also, they should stop ignoring the growth of some artists between signing them up and their actual performance. Both PinkPantheress and Ninajirachi sets were ruined for me by completely inadequate stage choice.   However, I felt very much the same way after the 2022 edition and have thoroughly enjoyed all subsequent editions. So I'm still buying early bird tickets for 2027 and hoping this was a hiccup not the start of a downward trend.
    • I will definitely be buying a 2027 early bird pass, partially because of the priority reservation privileges for the Ciutat sets. Hopefully the organization will take action to improve upon this year's failings. Because I thought the free water options and sound quality were an improvement over last year, so clearly they can actually implement positive changes.   I also hope all the douchebag chompers get in the sea, cause I was more bothered by them than in the past few years.   Highlights: The Cure, Ninajirachi, Knocked Loose, Current 93, Blood Orange.
    • Similar feelings to a few others on here. Not my personal favourite edition but a long way from giving up on it. Felt overcrowded at times and there are just too many people there that don't seem to like music that much! Hardly went to main stages which was the plan. Highlights Ralphie Choo, rusowsky, Gorillaz, Geese, Gelli Haha, The Sophs, PinkPantheress, Dijon. Accommodation booked for next year. Thanks for your company and comments over the past year.
