There's always other bands possible, it's whether they're around. I'm also not convinced this "SOAD want to play with the band so they're definitely heavier" thing is definite. While there's reasons for them, there's reasons to discount all of the ones on the list. I think if there was strong evidence for one of the suspected ones someone would have an idea what with it being less than 2 weeks before the announcement.

I'm starting to think it may be Sabbath.

My reason being (despite going back on some of the misgivings I had yesterday), is that SOAD said it is someone they have played with once before (although I don't know if they have or not), and feel as though it is an honour to play under them. This leads me to believe that it isn't Green Day as they've played with them multiple times. Serj is mates with Rage, or at least Tom Morello, through Axis of Justice, which leads me to believe there is probably regular contact between the two. Although I guess this doesn't necessarily rule Rage out. And this is all mere speculation anyway. And is still dependent on that article not being misquoted/exaggerated/out of context/just plain lies.

Exactly this.

Sabbath- Were in talks with Live Nation, but were they specifically about R&L do we know? No Euro dates. Why on earth would R&L leave them until last?

Blur- 'No UK festivals' and would they go above System (if you're going to use that quote as evidence)?

Green Day- Emirates date & finished in Europe way before the fest

Linkin Park- Not in Europe

Metallica- Not in Europe, have a US show in August (EDIT: actually that might be June. Stupid Americans & their stupid dates). Am I right in thinking they don't have new material since when they last played?

Nine Inch Nails- Not big enough

Rage- Not in Europe & no new material

That's why I went 'Other' :P

For those that chose other, is it that there's another name other than those listed who you think is more likely or that you can't see it being any of those listed but don't have another alternative suggestion that is more likely?

Maybe I should start a poll...

The later.

Obviously (and I think I'm probably quoting you here) if one of them suddenly announces they're playing in Germany the week before then it makes them a hell of a lot more likely. But at the moment none of them are even in Europe, with the exception of Green Day who I'm sure will have buggered off home, and Blur who don't seem to want to come home...

I don't believe blur have left that gap in a world tour for no reason. Out of all the bands mentioned their the oy one touring in europe at the time.

Just because someone said blur are not doing uk dates could mean that that source is good at keeping secrets.

Just like all the signs that soad were playing, I think all the signs are that blur are.
