New iTunes is out. BIG Improvement?

Well its finally out, and whether you are a hater or a lover is fairly irrelevant. As a previous advocate of all things ipod/ipad/iphone/itunes and defector of sorts to Android - I still love my classic 160Gb, and the new itunes appears on first look to be a much sleeker, less clunky, and certainly better looking beast than before.

I've yet to get a real feel for it, but as I say - first impressions are pretty good. Lets see how it fares with a bit of use.

What do others think? and please - keep the hate elsewhere. I know there are "better media playing packages" elsewhere, but for the classic, its pretty much the best way...

thats just the thing though, for the ipod classic at the very least - there isnt.

I know there are better media players/libraries, but ipod sync is a thing of beauty.

and a thing of extreme ugliness is the impossibility to install for just one user, and what that does to the PC for other users.

On the basis of that, just about any other method of transferring files to and from any mp3 player is better.

Its got a new interface... the first real change of the look in 10 years or so. But that's it.

Good things; I like the 'up next' playlist, and the font looks nice on a big screen.

Bad things; I miss party shuffle, and going back to the song that is currently playing is now 2 clicks.

There's more problems with iTunes than it being popular, or just something to moan about, but if you don't care about being efficient with your computer power and being locked to Apple software, it does the job.

It's almost as bad as Realplayer was.

Never experienced anything like that... Whats happening ?

you can't install iTunes for just one user, which means that it's doings effects any user that logs in.

In my particular case there's a PC that my kid mostly uses (which i why it has iTunes on it), which means that everytime I log in I have to send the first few minutes trying to stop iTunes hogging all the resources as it tries to update itself and scan the drives where my music is.

What that gets to mean is that Apple cannot program even the basics right in a windows program tho of course that's probably deliberate, on the basis that they want every user to see just how fantastic iTunes is(n't).

    • Same’s happened at MSG recently with Rush and Phish alternating nights. I guess each band has its own unique production so their riggers will be kept busy
    • The rumour was uk arena tour late this year.  Same as Charli xcx cant be announced until Reading headline is done.
    • Latest from the sun at least is that harry is still headlining but Olivia has turned down a spot next year to work on new music and hope for 2028.   So they can't have Fender, Fontaines, Harry, Olivia and Madonna.
    • I mean I don't think EC and FFDP are borderline sub, they wouldn't be any lower now.   2025 is about as strong as Bloodstock gets yet this year only one headline would sub and the others would play 3rd down or lower.    Machine Head wouldn't sub at Download regardless of rarity, they don't sell enough tickets and I'm not sure Gojira would sub either. Their last UK tour was a mix of smaller arenas and academy dates. Ally Pally being the only London date, not even Wembley Arena.
    • live music / main stage will generally end around 11pm but theres dj’s and late goings on right till 4am if you are so inclined.   Drinks are about £7.50 a pint probably and yes theres lots of mixed drinks / spirits / cocktails available to buy   wonderful festival, back for my third year in a row and 4th overall
