I'd certainly be at the front if he did play. It's the 25th anniversay of So which is a great album in itself let alone the numerous other great songs in his back catalogue. He'd be a good addition in my opinion.

A well fought, and rational opinion. I AGREE.

At first, I must admit, I was a little perplexed as I recalled the huge amount of artists whom claim influence; Radiohead, Elbow and The Killers to name but a few. I also remembered his boundless exploration into various experimental music and genres, and his pioneering work with producing and promoting world music. His bedrock of countless classic songs that have have stood the test of time was also lingering in my mind. Salisbury Hill, Don't Give Up, In Your Eyes, Games without Frontiers, Mercy Street etc. How ignorant I was.

Although never of importance to me, his multi-million selling album sales and numerous music awards, including three Brits, six Grammys, thirteen MTV awards, and induction into the Rock and Roll hall of fame, may also be a persuasion for others.

That aside, his long history with the Glastonbury Festival and Michael Eavis, local residence, and involvment in various humanitarian efforts would, I foolishly thought, make him a welcome addition to the festival at, perhaps, the West Holts stage.

With this all in mind I did, still feel, a little at odds with your argument. However, it was a final glimpse at your radar and your love for Bloc Party that helped me finally, humbly, conceive defeat. 'This guy knows his stuff', I thought. 'This guy knows his music...'

I was there in 1979. He didn't play with his band though...........it was a collaboration of artists including Tom Robinson and Alex Harvey each taking the spotlight to showcase their own music plus they did a number of covers including a quite brilliant 20 minute version of It's Only Rock'n'Roll.

PG was supposed to be taking 2013 off. But now that he's announced the autumn shows I suppose anything is possible.

We saw him at Hop Farm last year, with the New Blood Orchestra and he was fantastic. There cannot be many better ''raises hair on the back of the neck" so be than 'Biko' live. A sunset slot at Glastonbury would suit him perfectly IMHO. Needs to find a better female vocal for 'Don't Give Up' mind - but then Kate Bush isn't an easy act to follow.

Which reminds me - given that it's the season to wish for Christmas miracles, how about Kate Bush at Glasto 13? Well, I can dream.

Saw him at Hop Farm this year with the same. Great visuals and set, and great presence, but don't expect anything pulse racing and lively - Solsbury Hill was about as close to dancing as we all got. No-one will ever be able to reproduce a track like Dont Give Up where its defined so largely by the vocalist - anyone heard the Wrurzels cover of Golden Brown . . . Used to live near Pete - never saw him in Chippenham Sainsbury's, though swear I passed him in Emery Gate once...

    • i never got my EUR 15 back from Wet Leg - anyone else? Not the worst thing to have happened this occurrence like but another small thing that I thought was a bit poor.
    • Stonewall IPA for sure last year and another Brooklyn one I think (at least in one of the bars) - Defender maybe. Shame the craft beer van wasn't there last year but the options are much better than they used to be.
    • First outdoor gig of the season for me last night. David Byrne in a soaking wet St Anne’s Park. Absolutely spectacular (didn’t expect anything less to be fair!). If you get a chance to catch him on this tour, don’t hesitate. At least half the set were Talking Heads classics. Marvellous all round (ok, I’ll let him away with the song about how much he loves his apartment😁).  IMG_1177.dng
