Problem is 1) weight, but could be overcome with good trolley 2) pitch size, would worry about finding a big enough space at G 3) price, and even if it was very substantially reduced I would then think it was too good to take it to G with all the damage it might get.

Oooh. The lovely Vango Icaraus. Beautiful tent.

I've got an Eos 350, height 140cm, but still have to crawl around. Or I could take a much taller ancient ridge tent, which is not guaranteed to keep me dry-well it didn't last time we took it out.

If you have enough spare room in your car, then I would always recommend a wheelbarrow. Not least because you might have one sitting around in your garden, and they lap up the mud

The wheelbarrow id the most important thing I take, apart from the beer and hob nobs of course.

...And the ticket

I got the good old B&Q one for Kendal Calling. We had 140 beers on and the structure that was holding the wheels in place collapsed so we got a mechanic to fit extra things onto the wheels so they lasted longer. Also did another three trips for friends with another 100 beers on each time! Don't think we will take it to Glasto as its a pain to go in the car and we will driving quite a long way. The first trip we had to walk up a hill on grass for a good 15 minutes to the queue and then another 10/15 once in there so it did the job after the alterations :)

are amazing, had mine for years, load it up with the beers, get em to camp then chuck it in the lock ups, job done!

however after hearing about the dodgy pins, i use a nail, bent into an S shape around the axle to hold the wheels on, have used new nails each year and its not failed me yet!

,

pneumatic wheels really, really DO make all the difference though!

Pram, pram, pram...... it's the way ahead.

Need one with wheels like this, handy stowage underneath.

This is the model I have (as already mentioned, picked up for a bargain on ebay.)

$T2eC16ZHJHEE9ny2sYPzBQUN9p4-ww~~60_12.JPG

Just get rid of the nice bedding etc, and load; use a couple of bungy straps for extra stability.

I do tend to have to do a 2nd car park journey tho when there are 2 of us, but it's briliant.

Funny thing we went with trolley in 2009 and it nearly killed me.. Daughter and I travel lite now.

Rucksack each on the way in and anything we can carry then pop back out on thursday for supplies from the motor.. Works well for us. the locals love the fact I have a bed pump with batterysarcastic.gif Just know what to carry. Fairy lights are very importantsarcastic_blum.gif

Pretty.

The wheels are sturdy, we used to use the same wheels to make trolleys to move racks of car parts around car plants (I used to work for a company where we made stuff for rover and land rover like that, jigs and mobile storage racks) and they are certainly sturdy enough to stand being bumped up and down kerbs while lots of vibrating weight above is bearing down.

I've been putting off reading this topic as it's kind of a sore subject for me. Last year we invested in one of these..........http://www.charliesdirect.co.uk/products/rolson-sack-truck-hand-truck . I was looking forward to putting it through it's paces, so we loaded up the car with the kitchen sink etc. On arrival at Glastonbury, the heavens opened. We got out the car to load the sack truck up, only to find I had left the axle at home (had to deconstruct sack truck to get it into the car). Had the truck, the wheels, the pins, but no axle. I cried. Glastonbury 2011 didn't start well for me, and so I'm looking forward to giving it it's maiden voyage it 2013.

Oh man, you must have been gutted. With all the extra kit you would have brought because you had the wheels. Did you manage to borrow a trolley or did you have to do multiple back breaking trips?

I'm adding "make sure the trolley is usable" to my preparation list, right after "check tent still has all components, no rips and is still waterproof" and "make sure sunblock hasn't all dried up/been replaced by some random mystery oil"
