After a massive come down walk back to the car in 2010 was loading bags into it and I was missed by an inch by a seagull, a massive fucking seagull that fell out of the sky, smashed into the ground next to me , twitched and died.

It had probably ingested some drugs someone had dropped. On the plus side a child was saved

  • Litter, and in particular the state of the Pyramid and Other fields on Sunday morning. Other in particular stank like a landfill site last year thanks to the sheer volume of food waste and litter left behind because people were too lazy to walk three yards to a bin.

  • Lack of decent real ale in the 'middle' of the site - obviously the old Red Flag and the Bimble Inn have a great choice, but it's only really the Avalon that has real ale anywhere inbetween.

  • Only one Brother's Bar. And only one Avalon Organic Vineyard stall.

  • The fact that all my complaints seem to centre on booze!

  • Sometimes poor sound quality at the Other Stage

  • The smelliness of the long drops at the bottom of Kidney Mead (seriously, why DO they smell so bad when all of the others are absolutely fine? Do Kidney Mead campers have smellier piss or something?)

  • Selfish campers. You don't NEED that 12-man tent for 2 of you, or that circle of chairs under your gazebo, and you certainly don't need that tape, as proven by the fact that you don't replace it when I snip through it with my Swiss army knife en route to the bogs on Wednesday night :)

  • The Garlic Kitchen not being there any more :(

It is busier in key areas than it was pre-fence, rather than the site as a whole, in 2000 when numbers peaked it was less crowded in the camping areas, these days there is more acreage to the site, but numbers are congested in some areas that leads to it feeling busier now.

I proudly heckled the coors in '99

There is no like button to click for that, which is a damn shame.

My dislikes are the ever more crowded camping areas (I have friends who go who are all accountants, they each take a family sized tent per person, as well as gazebo, chairs and then spend the first 2 days complaining that they can't all camp together, failing to understand that they are the kind of people creating the issue in the first place)

Antisocial behaviour (thievery, mostly, I haven't seen any threat of, let alone actual violence in over a decade)

Also with the posh kids, they were a real nightmare in '09 and seemed to be less of them since, but the sneering attitude of the entitled just gets my back up.

The fact that the naughty corner has become the be all and end all of night time entertainment to the point that it has. Too many people want to be in the same place at once, so it's the last place I would be wanting to head.

All my gripes are minor, in the face of the fantastic time I do have there and just 5 minutes sat above the park with a joint and a lil tot of something nice totally outweighs ALL the negatives.

My original mention of that was just a repetition of what someone else had said in the seagull thread, i then mentioned it once more as a hazard to children, in hindsight perhaps because if it can happen to a bird....... However the fact that you consider 2 mentions an obsession is odd

Tent thefts and getting a ticket. Both nightmares, I can put up with almost everything else.

Apart, of course. from the urinals being put up too high. Even having a massive cock doesn't help if you've got short legs.

Having done litter picks at fests I won't drop any litter, including cigarette butts. I carry an empty 35mm film canister - you can get them from most film processing shops, the best ones are aluminium with a plastic top - and put all my butts in there till I get to a waste bin. It's not hard.

Biggest problem is getting a ticket, especially in Hull were Karoo have a monopoly on our internet service provider, which is absolutely rubbish and always crashes come ticket day.

If it wasnt for my brother being at the Ryder Cup in Wales my family wouldnt have got tickets for last years. Thinking of booking a night away with the wife on the 6th October just so I can use some decent WiFi the next morning to get my tickets for next year.
