Does anyone know who votes for these lists? Not a terrible list but as usual with these type of lists there isnt much imagination involved and they dont look much beyond the high profile players. There isnt a name on that list who doesnt play for a big (yes im including liverpool) european side. Think croatia should have got a bit more recognition, think they were the 5th best team in the tournament unlucky to be in a group with the 1st and 2nd.

Garth Crooks also has gerrard in his team of the tournament on the beeb ahead of ozil and fabregas. He also has no Portuguese players.

And they all play for big European teams because they are the best players in Europe.

I think refereeing as a whole as been poor for a while and there's definitely a lack of common sense being applied.

I agree about Mandzukic and Rakitic, I also think Modric was decent and guarantee if he put in exactly the same level of perfomance but played for barcelona/madrid or one of the big european nations he would have been picked as well.

While I agree there will also be a bias to high profile european players when 24 of the 25 are huge names in world football and the other has just signed for Barcelona you have to question the validity of the list. Every tournament be it euros or world cup has relatively unknown players who shine, I look at the likes of Gerbasalsi and Dsagaev as examples who wouldnt look out of place. Even the likes of Hummels and Debuchy who play for big nations but not huge clubs who should be contenders for the best 11 (not the best 23) have been ignored.

To me the list looks like the panel have written down a list of the most famous 50 players in the tournament and purely selected from that list, crossing oft the likes of RVP and Rooney who have been useless. Look at Italy who had a great tournament and which 4 players have been selected, shockingly their 4 highest profile players, I think the likes of Balzaretti and Montilivio have also been great but maybe the panel have never heard of them.

As for who I would leave out Neuer, Gerrard, Silva, Busquets and Lahm definitely wouldnt make my 23.
