You are right Neil we are all aware of the lack new big rock/metal acts (as its a dying breed sadly).

But if you go by my 'only 1 headliner repeat (if they are headlining within 5 years of last headlining) + 2 acts that have never headlined' (note you can interchange to 2 & 1) policy here is a small list of bands you could have:

Never headlined (some are unlikely/maybe not big enough/require a reunion):

Foo Fighters

Muse

Blink 182

Biffy Clyro

Red Hot Chili Peppers

Rammstein

Paramore

Avenged Sevenfold

Van Halen

Green Day

Rush

Ozzy Osbourne

Pearl Jam

Bon Jovi

Nickleback

Sex Pistols

Pendulum

Bullet For My Valentine

Pixies

Smashing Pumpkins

Led Zeppelin

Pink Floud

Deftones

Depeche Mode

Nine Inch Nails

Queens Of The Stone Age

Alice In Chains

30 Seconds to Mars

Rise Aganist

At The Drive In

Jane's Addiction

Judas Preist

(Any future big acts)

Bands that's haven't headlined in at least 5 years:

Tool

Guns & Roses

Iron Maiden

(The rest are a bit shit)

Plus 1 (sometimes 2 of the usual suspects)

Yes I know some of the bands mentioned wouldn't happen.

Andy said he had a list of about 40 bands that he thought could headline so I'm not worried. I was a little when metallica headlined quite a bit. But not worried with the state of the line ups at the moment. As long as the headliners don't become 'chicago rock', I think DL will do just fine.

Just wondered, I've read quite a lot of things about people wanting it to happen and discussing the possibility of it, but if Pantera ever reformed with Zakk Wylde as guest guitarist, would they be headline status? I'm not masively into Pantera so I don't really know too much about their popularity or if it would ever be likely to happen. But would they be a sub or would there be a big thing about them reforming which would see them headline?

^^^ Thanks man!

I saw the other day that Slipknot have said they are going to go back in the studio and start recording the new album in early 2013. That makes me think that they won't be around next summer and are more likely for 2014 now :/

So I'm gunna call A7X, Rammstein and Maiden now. They really need to book Rammstein, especially if Till is going to stand by his word and retire at 50, leaving 2013 as the last chance to get them. But on the downside, they haven't managed to get them after all these years so I'm not sure they could convince them for 2013 anyway :/

Good. The longer they wait the better. I know it may sound a bit callous given the circumstances with Paul's death and all, but they were nowhere near as good as they usually are at Soni last year, and a break may help them get back to their best.

Yeah, given the Slipknot news, I think they'll do 2014. Recording early next year should pretty much confirmed they won't be there and Stone Sour will still be going. They've openly said they'll be recording while SS continue touring.

    • Very different in terms of time of game,  yet remember how excited I was before the first game in Euro 2016 having grown up not sure I would ever see wales in an international tournament. That day scraped a win against Slovakia and was just happy to see wales score and win at a tournament, little did I know we would finish in the top 4. Hope Scottish fans get the same experience.
